@curiosityLynx

seems like everything that isn't "kbin.social" shows a url instead of the shortened mention.

if you mention a magazine that is on kbin.social, it doesn't even work/show, if you mention a fedia or kglitch magazine at "kbin.social" it shows a short mention on my side but a full url on your side.. it is broken :,D

left kbin, right fedia, another kbin based instance - so if i post a kbin magazine on kbin it doesnt gonna show, while fedia magazines etc do show, but as a full url vice versa :) really chaotic

As a genX-er, I grew up having to say it through elementary and middle school. I quit participating in the mid ‘80s. We were forced to attend John Birch Society events in school hat would talk about how horrible Russia was and how they fed propaganda to the kids from an early age. Reagan would always talk about all the horrible things USSR would do with their childhood propaganda too. I realized right away that everything the school was doing was the same thing.

I got labeled as a bad kid. Not Christian enough and not obedient enough.

Plus_a_Grain_of_Salt,

Holyshit, I’ve heard stories, but hearing your firsthand account sounds so dystopian.

Nope, public school

Damn, that sounds unconstitutional as hell. I imagine you went to some time of Christian private school?

The irony, to me, is that town is liberal now. The surrounding county is super maga but the city is all hippie liberal. But as a child, this Colorado town was Texas red. Don’t spend money on education because we need a better high school football stadium type of town.

I’m still grieving the Reddit that was.

Now, I’m excited for the threadiverse that could be.

Is the title supposed to sound like a Narcotics Anonymous meeting or am I just projecting?

IvanTheTerribleWaiter,

Apollo dev recorded and posted on twitter him deleting the API key

GunnarRunnar,

Which is... worst of both worlds?

They’re working on the kbin api stuff right now. It’sa priority. Also, check out Artemis magazine on kbin

PabloDiscobar,

But the API won't be open to us forever, right? I thought that it would close today.

I used the top karma holders lists to remove their posts from my feed since it was usually people posting the same thing in multiple subs. I would often have only a few posts before the marker for page 2 would show up.

I was a karma-whore, now that Reddit is dead, I'm just a slut.

I really hope @christianselig is paying attention to all this. It sounds like his iPad work would directly translate over here and a bit of work would create a fedi app.

kbin lacks an API with an equivalent feature set. Ernest is aware of this and it's on the bug tracker. Any working apps for kbin are using site scraping as a temporary workaround. In layman's terms it means the app developer is doing a lot of extra work that will mostly get thrown away when the API rework is complete. Artemis is the only one currently doing this off the top of my head.

The developer of Pixelfed, @dansup, is working on a kbin app as well.

hairyscotsman,

For sure, if Apollo existed for fedi sites, it would be amazing. I didn't realise how much I hate using reddit website since using Apollo and without the app, the site is dead in the water for me.

QuinceDaPence,

Among higher than average users it seemingly was. Given that reddit was saying the third party apps were using above average amounts of API calls per user. They said it's because of the 3PAs baing unoptimized but it was likely that more engaged users used 3PAs.

And most 3rd party app users were the ones who had been on Reddit for a decade or more.
