Because people tie their egos to their opinions and beliefs. They see an attack on those as an attack on their person.
We are all like this to certain extents. For example, I am a firm believer of the right of the individual to make their own choices, and believe that attempts to remove a person's right to make choices morally abhorrent.
They have user interfaces designed for completely different use cases and input devices.
Ubuntu doesn't really hide it's terminal.
Ubuntu in no way has a locked down root. A simple sudo command is all you need. In a typical Android phone, is MUCH harder to get root on.
Android and Ubuntu are much more different than you realise. From the technical details to Google's monopolistic practices. Honestly it is shorter to list what they have in common (basically the Linux kernel and a tiny selection of GNU utilities)
It has some GNU utilities. We are talking a very small selection indeed. Some might even be completely different implementations compared to the typical GNU toolbox.
Oh fuck off. Russia is committing cultural genocide and is constantly bombing civilian targets. Russia thinks nothing of bombing hospitals or other civilian infrastructure. The only reason the Ukrainians are not also being crammed into a strip is because Russia's military hasn't been capable of doing that.
I have an OpenWRT router with an OpenVPN client on it. I use the router's firewall rules to secure the access as needed. If I'm using the VPN, then the VPN is the only way traffic can get out, as I close the direct route via firewall.
This setup persists even after a router reboot.
To do this easily, I made a Python script that can load the OpenVPN files on the router, switch on/off the OpenVPN connection and modify the firewall accordingly.
This affects the entire network, and means I am not reliant on the torrent software or desktop VPN client playing ball.
Happy to share my script if it will be handy to you.
