ALostInquirer

@ALostInquirer@lemm.ee

I like to ask a variety of questions, sometimes silly, serious, and/or strange. Never asking in an attempt to pester or “just asking questions” stuff.

I’m generally curious and/or trying to get a sense of people’s views.

If they sport a woman bun, wouldn’t that be an even greater problem supposing a straight monogamoship? 😂

ALostInquirer,

Isn’t there an option to disable your camera while facetiming? Alternatively just…Calling would make sense, but setting that aside.

ALostInquirer,

How else are they going to get the full emotional range of your call?

ALostInquirer,

There’s a large overlap with “slice of life”, and a lot of these are set in school for whatever reason - YMMV.

I do enjoy anime, but a lot of them are like this and the reason’s pretty clear: the target audience is often skewed younger (i.e. teens/young adults). Are the ones you’ve suggested set in school, or…? It’s not a dealbreaker fwiw just not my first choice.

Cromartie High School is one of my occasional fallbacks for something silly & lighthearted, after all.

ALostInquirer,

Ooooh, it’s that kind of name. Yeah that’s bad. Thanks for clarifying!

ALostInquirer,

Trying out new things in life is an effective way to learn something new about yourself and the world around you.

Part of why I’m asking tbh! I’m blanking on stuff I’ve avoided based on names, but I’m hoping some replies here might highlight them as, “Avoided but…!”

ALostInquirer,

I don’t eat tofu, nor been around folks that do (or do and talk about it), so I’m whiffing here. Is it because tofu spoils when left open, or is there a pronunciation part I’m missing?

ALostInquirer,

Anyone else wonder how some folks will say language sometimes changes related to people speaking lazily, but then you get words changing meaning/emerging with extra syllables like “irregardless” or “disorientated”?

When posts like this pop up, it makes me wonder 'bout those extra syllable words, “So how’s that happen, then?”

ALostInquirer,

For sure! I’ve mainly heard/read these from native English speakers, which is where more of the confusion comes from.

ALostInquirer,

Huh, that does seem like it could get pretty mindnumbing. Thanks for the reply, hope you’re at something better these days!

ALostInquirer,

Some poor bastard had to go get that out of stock, bring it into repair, go over the entire lot, and take a special pencil to color in those little scratches, or mark it as unrepairable.

…This is so simple it’s making me ask to be sure…This specific repair gig was…Coloring in scratches?

ALostInquirer,

Thanks! I was aware of that execution method, but I’ve never read of a precise amount of weight employed in the process.

ALostInquirer,

[…] which could easily crush your rib cage as it can only withstand 630 pounds of force.

…How is this known? Also is that calculated with the skin/muscle/connective tissue buffer in mind? If so, that honestly raises even more questions…

ALostInquirer,

Where’s a Garak? the new hit game of finding characters like Garak in other media!

ALostInquirer,

Somehow this is the first time I’ve ever seen, “All Your Base Are Belong To Us” shortened that way and it left me thinking it was something even more arcane 😂

ALostInquirer,

Would specialized velcro for beards help?

ALostInquirer,

Is that in the form of the supporting statistical data, for the maths alone, or…? For logic I have a better understanding, but maths has been more of a struggle for me.

ALostInquirer,

What if so? Well, then that’s not the whole of academia that they dislike, only maybe those parts being mixed with the others, and as you note, there are apparently jobs in the field/industry that do allow one to avoid some of those parts they dislike.

ALostInquirer,

Isn’t the scramble for grant funding and pressure to write papers more of the…Industrialization/capitalization(?) of academia than basic academia?

ALostInquirer,

Hmm, well if you have friendly forms of them I suppose you’d also have the odd pests and hostile forms, so that’s not a bad response. Speaking of, if you had lamp mimics you’d have a hell of frustrating time keeping your place lit.

Although I was thinking more in terms of domesticated, benign forms of living buildings/structures.

ALostInquirer,

Not necessarily made of flesh, just alive in some strange way that’s apparent. Think something more along the lines of plantlife.

Are you looking for a specific community?

A specific community. Sorry the question is…As it is, but it’s asking about a general help finding things community. Like for specific sites/tools/creators/products/etc. This is in contrast to this community, advice/personal help communities, and the AskLemmy communities which are about looking for communities, specific personal advice/help, or asking open-ended questions respectively.

Hope that helps clarify the question!

ALostInquirer,

Thanks for the advice! Also, maybe I’m doing something wrong, but I think the chat community on lemmy.ca isn’t around anymore…? Didn’t show up when I searched there and the link leads to an error page, so unfortunately I think that’s no longer an option.

ALostInquirer,

some birds may see things more like the bottom picture? humans be missin’ out fr!
