So? I’m just creating an 8 GiB swap file.

They are not covering up, they are trying to make you comfortable. If you don’t wanna, just ask.

systemd? No thanks. I prefer rEFInd.

Bold of you to assume that dual boot is only for 1 Linux distro and 1 Window$. You can have multiple distros. Also rEFInd have an option to boot into UEFI instead of remembering which button to hold. So you don’t even have to have multiple OSes.

You shouldn’t use this app in the first place. It had many data breaches and it copy everything from Telegram (maybe everyone copies, but I don’t use other apps). I only mainly use Telegram and Matrix.

LaTeX is shit at this point. Check out github.com/typst/typst. I cannot go back to the awful syntax in a powerful LuaLaTeX.

It’s in the beta, but actively being developed. You can do a lot of stuff already, but a lot of stuff is either not implemented or janky. Overall I can cope with that. If you want to add something, just know how to write in Rust.

Typ as in type and st as in street. One syllable with many consonants.

It’s still new and I didn’t ask authors this question and doc doesn’t talk about it either.

Imagine no WSL, no nothing. The only way to use Bash/Zsh is to use either a full blown VM or switch to Linux. All coders would 100% move to Linux, except that code in C++++.

powershell is pretty good.

Pretty good by Windows standards, but it’s awful and too verbose and ugly by UNIX standards.

imagine writing complex logic in bash, zsh or even fish.

There are a lot of Bash wrappers for a lot of programs or the programs themselves are written in Bash. Maybe complex logic in Bash wouldn’t look pretty, but it is much easier than POSIX shell. And there is a LSP server for shellscript. If a custom command is present on the host, then the server will also see it and you can autocomplete it.

Some things are easier done with shell than python, so it all depends.

Okular is good enough for me. It has at least 3 dark modes and I can hide all the UI in non-fullscreen mode.

At this point I have used duckduckgo for years with no issues.

BTW, I love mpv. It’s minimalistic, supports all necessary shortcuts and can be controlled via Lua script. As a scripter/keyboard-only user it’s perfect.

Yes, for auto fullscreening, changing subtitles/audio, skipping some chapters etc.

Do these professors state a reason why files need to be in a proprietary formats? Or what would be done (by them to students) if files were to be in a FOSS formats? You can save in the PPTX/XLSX format with LibreOffice suite.

We only need to provide a PDF file so I can use whatever I want.

Ask professors if they know that you have to pay to use MS Office suite. So you can argue that you won’t pay money to be able to make documents/spreadsheets/presentations.

MS Word — bad, LibreOffice Writer/Typst — good.

If it’s not intuitive enough then don’t use it and don’t open it. You can always close with Ctrl+z and then kill it. Or close a terminal window like any other intuitive editor.
