Anticorp,

What? My Little Pony was created in like 1981. Anyone who watched the show when it aired is middle aged now.

Anticorp,

Why are you expecting logic from someone as hateful and moronic as the person you’re responding to?

Anticorp,

“Oh my God!”

Who is God’s God?

Anticorp,

In the field the babies giggling

As the generals start their aiming

Anticorp,

Ain’t war hell?

Anticorp,

They don’t know they’re going to be butterflies. They are driven by instinct to build the cocoon. It is a natural urge, an irresistible drive.

Anticorp,

The knee scooters worked the best for me until I was strong enough and the pain had subsided enough for crutches. They’re not great in small rooms though.

Good luck to you!

Edit: you can often find those scooters at the thrift store or on Craigslist. Of course that won’t work if it’s your femur that is broken.

Anticorp,

Yeah you’ll end up with some muscle imbalance. I couldn’t walk for about 3 months after shattering my ankle and when they finally took the cast off, my leg was super atrophied and one of my shoulders was all fucked up from 3 months of having to compensate for half my lower body not working. The good news is all that shit is temporary, as long as you do your PT, and then focus on fitness after you’ve recovered enough. Ask the physical therapist, or the surgeon what mobility aids to use, they’ll know. Also make sure to get the handicapped placard, you’ll need it for awhile.

Anticorp,

“I could care less”.

Oh really? How much less?

Anticorp,

Did you request that from their website?

Anticorp,

They’re more comfortable than the US N95 masks too. We’ve been using KN95 masks since the start of the pandemic. So far, so good!

This fast food order kiosk accepts cash (mander.xyz)

All the McD*nalds in my area have been upgraded with order kiosks. Regardless of all the controversy around self-checkout, and minimum wage, and automation taking our jobs, I personally love them. I can take my sweet time composing my order, I can see the full selection (such as it is), I can see pictures and prices clearly...

Anticorp,

Those are both examples of improvements. Self-checkout is not an improvement, it’s outsourcing of work to customers.

Anticorp,

To each their own I suppose. You’ll get your way on this one, since every checkout that can be automated eventually will be.

Anticorp,

I’ll bet this is why McDonald’s was fine with the $20 minimum wage increase in California. They’ll just use kiosks that smaller places can’t afford, to offset the new labor charges. But then smaller places won’t be able to appeal to employees, since they will be paying less than half of what the chains pay. The result will be fewer actual jobs available, more pressure on small burger joints to shut down, and few people actually benefitting from the new wages.

Anticorp,

There’s always a line for self-checkout now too though, and you still need to consider what to package first. Ultimately it’s down to personal preference. There are a lot of people on this platform with social anxiety who prefer self-checkout. Personally I hate it, and everything it represents, but I understand why some people prefer it. As an express lane it’s pretty okay, but self checkout for an entire cart of products is bullshit.

Anticorp,

I wouldn’t call doing someone else’s job for free and upgrade.

Anticorp,

When were you in? I got out right as a whole bunch of new gear and equipment was coming in. We were still issued the M16-A2. I wanted the A3 with that swoopy eye piece, but never had a chance to try one. The A2 was probably the best rifle I’ve ever fired, as long as you kept it clean (not always easy in the field). They were in the process of phasing out the UH-1H (Huey) when I left, in favor of the Blackhawk. My CO hated the Blackhawks and said he could put 10 Hueys in the air for the price of one Blackhawk.

Anticorp,

That’s unfortunate to hear about the new stuff. I was really hoping to check out some of the new gear before my ETS, but it never happened. I guess I didn’t miss anything.

You were 13F? Wild, man! I went to basic at Ft. Sill where you would have done your AIT. I was thinking about re-classing as 13F at one point, since y’all were harder than woodpecker lips. Did you go to Rucker when you got attached to an aviation unit?

Anticorp,

67N, helicopter mechanic and crew member. I really wanted to go airborne, but my unit wouldn’t pay for it. I should have got it in my contract when enlisting, then I could have gone right after AIT. That’s when you’re at the height of fitness anyways, after six months straight of training, so airborne school wouldn’t be quite as hard. I petitioned my unit several times during AIT, but the answer was always no. Oh well! Not going probably saved my knees. Did you see any combat? I was too young for the 1st Iraq war, and got out right before 9/11, so I never went to war.

Anticorp,

But also the younger the worker, the less likely they are to know where the thing is. They’re going to pull out their phone and look it up on the website. Go to a local hardware store if you want people who know where things are and what those things do.

Anticorp,

Dang it! I just replied with the same thing and then saw your comment right after sending mine.

Anticorp,

At Home Depot? They’re definitely different in your area then. Around here they all run away when they see you need help, just like this comic.

Anticorp,

Did he look like Christopher Walken?
