Unfortunately, Firefox usage is at an all time low. Google just hasn’t had time to get around us.

Assist Widget

Hey everyone, I’ve started playing around with Assist to use voice to kick off actions. However, I want to put an Assist widget on my Android home screen. The directions from HA say to open your widgets, go to Home Assistant, then long press the Assist widget. However, when I go to select a widget, there is no Assist widget...

Starting to use "soulseek" do I need VPN

So I use a VPN when torrenting as per usual but with Soulseek I wish to share my music with others and that requires me to open a port. I have no problem doing so I just do not pay for a VPN that can do this at the current price I am paying. Is it possible/what are the chances of me getting in trouble ISP wise from using...

Because you are doing something illegal. Your ISP might not care, but if someone complains, they HAVE to start the process. You’re not only protecting yourself, but your ISP from the music industry’s wrath.

So broadcast TV currently broadcasts on ATSC 1.0. You get an antenna and a box or TV that has a digital tuner and you’re good. Industry is pushing for ATSC 3.0, which allows for DRM. So even though they are broadcasting on the public airwaves, they can decide you can’t watch. It sets up the local broadcasters to be the new cable with ever increasing prices AND play king maker on devices by choosing which can and cannot produce tuners. In my area, 5 channels have ATSC 3.0, and 1 of them turned on DRM. Meaning I can’t watch it because HDHomeRun devices aren’t approved, likely because it has the ability to record. Luckily, that channel still broadcasts in ATSC 1.0, so I can still watch it for now. 3.0 isn’t a fully adopted yet, but that can change in the future (2027?).

Exactly. There is a huge potential safety issue.

Pay attention boys and girls, this is also what they want to do with over the air broadcasts with the ATSC 3.0 format.

Something that can’t be taken away from you by the whims of an artist, studio, or streaming service. Something you can re-rip as audio codexes change.

They’re just waiting around until China and Russia tells them they need the extra distraction. If NK starts attacking Japan/SK, expect China to follow with a Taiwan invasion shortly after.

MakeMKV to rip them from disc. Handbrake if you need to compress them.

Would that work for Blu-ray? I’m guessing not.

MTV’s downfall started when they got rid of all the Music freaks in the C suite that liked music and hired TV producers. Then we got Remote Control. We didn’t realize it at the time, but that was the downfall of MTV. Once those TV execs realized they could make non-music content, we got The Real World. It was OVER.

I used to love A&E when it was biographies and Lovejoy.

The major TV networks were so embarrassed by being outproduced in quality by these niche cable networks that they raised the level of their programing to match. LOL, no. They bought out all the niche cable TV channels and turned them into trash. Hurray Capitalism.

Edit: and in the streaming era, the same kind of thing happened to Pluto. They had some great, quirky programs. Like the train channel. Checked them out a couple weeks ago and they look completely different post buy out. All the tech and gaming content gone. No train channel. Bunch of channels that just run reruns of one show.

Yeah, when you bomb someone indiscriminately, you end up trapped in a hellhole.

It's funny how google pretends the music on YouTube isn't straight up piracy and everyone just goes along with it

Most people have extremely weird ideas of what’s considered piracy and what isn’t. Downloading a video game rom is piracy, but if you pay money to some Chinese retailer for an SD card containing the roms, that’s somehow not piracy. Exploiting the free trial on a streaming site by using prepaid visa cards is somehow not...

Exactly. I’d be shocked if they DIDN’T find US munitions.

And it won’t turn out like they think it will.
