Bebo,

I will be reading books, watch some netflix (Star Trek voyager and prodigy) then sleep.

Bebo,

I have been using adguard dns on my phone for years. For the past one year or so also using adblockers on browser (Firefox). Used to watch youtube with ads. Got fed up moved to watching youtube in browser with adblocker, then finally moved to newpipe sponsor block when youtube started adblocker shenanigans. For pc I use cloud flare dns, regular adblockers (Firefox) and keep privacy and security settings on strict.

What search engine do you recommend that isn't Google or Bing?

I’m still trying to de-Google my life, little by little. I don’t trust Bing for similar reasons. DDG is feeling shady of late. What’s the search engine you all recommend that I can inject into my daily life? Is there perhaps a search engine that is focused on code, or have we just all moved on to AI for searching?...

Bebo,

I am generally switching between Google and duck duck go on Firefox. When Google gives shitty results (which is frequently) I switch over to ddg.

Lemmy: Presently using one account (this one). Have another as backup. Access on android using mostly Eternity and now since the latest update, Voyager because I’m loving scaled sort. Access on Windows PC using Voyager, alexandrite and lemmy ui in browser if I need to access account settings.

Mastodon: one account only, semi-anonymous. Access on android using Moshidon and on PC using Elk. Use the Mastodon ui only if I need to access account settings. I mostly use Mastodon for posting whatever I find interesting and occasionally browse by hashtags as per my mood.

Bookwyrm: one account, no app. Trying to make this a goodreads alternative for myself.

Bebo,

My favourites:

  1. PBS Space Time
  2. Anton Petrov
  3. V101 Space

The best part of the channel Anton Petrov is that there’s a new video every day. Also, the quality is also good.

Bebo,

Every christmas I feast on rich plum cake… That’s all I want from christmas. I’ll start buying the cakes after 20th.

Bebo,

Top day on subscribed. Then if I have extra time I move on to top day all.

Bebo,

For me: good critical thinking skills, empathy, in touch with their emotions and loves reading books.

Bebo,

Regular watch. Don’t need to be hounded by any more notifications and don’t care about fitness data. However, it may be useful for people who need to keep track of texts, and fitness data.

Bebo,

Finally figured out after repeating it 2-3 times in my mind. Before that I was like what has i by 8 got to do with thanksgiving.

Bebo,

Glad to read about Malazan 😊 here

Bebo,

I had similar thoughts as OP then it took me some time to realise this. Microblogging is when you just need to say something but don’t care to have a discussion about it.

Bebo,

You can migrate from your old instance to a new one

Bebo,

To clarify, I was talking about migration on Mastodon. There isn’t a migration option on lemmy yet. I have heard that migration function on lemmy is on the pipeline, though not sure exactly what it would entail (as in whether posts and comments would be migrated or not, since on Mastodon you can migrate with only your followers as far as I know).

Bebo,

Voyager and alexandrite. Both can be installed as webapps and allow multiple accounts. I mostly use voyager because I am familiar with having used it on mobile. Alexandrite looks very pretty (IMO).

When Windows dropped support for XP, our NMR lab decided to change the OS of the PC linked to the NMR machine to Linux. Since I don’t work there anymore I don’t know if they were able to do that successfully.

Bebo,

Just Mastodon other than lemmy. And watch youtube using newpipe.

Bebo,

So it’s a solution that can be a solvent.
