I don’t. I think post workout endorphins are a myth spread to make maintenance on our meat mechs seem more palatable. I “like” to swim, in so much as the water continuously washes the sweat off while I work out.

Bob’s burgers is on in the background at my house quite a lot.

In the 90’s before I was doing it professionally, I used to go on massive 10 - 15 hour binge programming sessions only stopping when I realized I hadn’t eaten in that entire time. It was some of the best fun I’ve ever had. But it happened rarely and organically, not 5 days a week on a predetermined schedule.

Do what you love and you’ll never work a day in your life.

  1. Every day is a day I’d rather have off.
  2. It ruined the thing I loved (programming) for me

I still most often listen to Grunge and 90 Hard and Alt rock. According to tidal Pearl Jam is a little more than half of all my song listens every month.

Side note, I think the collective noun for Lemmy users in any music thread should be Motorheads.

It was basically all the same posts from Thanks I Love It, posted by very different people… or, often, the same people.

This is warning showing why spreading out is important. No one instance being offline should be able to affect so many Motorheads at once.

My last couple computers have never been sullied by Windows (or “secure” boot).

I just ordered an additional 12TB drive for my NAS because the 12TB of usable space I currently have on it is nearly full. Plus all of that data has multiple backups - I consider 3-2-1 to be a minimal backup strategy.

OP, you may want to venture over to !datahoarder

Wide awake nightmare: A terrible thing you have to live with, you can’t just wake up from it.

As in the line from the MST3k episode The Scream Skull, “This is Micky, Micky is a wide awake nightmare.”

They built that blockchain back when NFTs of gifs seemed like a good idea and, by god, they’re going to find a use for it.

I got a science degree in the late 90’s. Back then my eco profs talked about a lot of worst case scenarios that might occur in 2050’s and beyond. Things like the break down of the mid-atlantic conveyor current, the collapse of the antarctic ice shelf, weakening of the air currents that feed the amazon with sand from the Sahara, and sudden drops of sea life populations (like crabs). Things that are all actively in progress now - 50 years ahead of those “worst case scenarios” of the 90s. Oops was a while back.

This might be a tough one were I still using Reddit. I want to pay devs who do good work but I don’t want my money to, in turn, pay Reddit so they can claim my content as their own.

“We” by Yevgeny Zamyatin is the book that inspired both “Brave New World” and “1984”. If you go looking for it in paper form it’s sometimes credited to Eugene Zamyatin, as Eugene is the English version of Yevgeny.

One of my all-time favorite books. Be sure to get a good translation though.

Identity seems to be an issue with the fediverse. I keep 2 active accounts, one on a Lemmy server and one on a Mastodon one. It gets extra confusing when I use Mastodon to post to a Lemmy community. Then, back in Lemmy, I see me but it’s not me but it is me.

The Poop post hit 9Gag a few days days ago. Then a bunch of them started coming to “Lemmy: Discorse is Magic” all the time “ironically.” There were a bunch of inside jokes about how much they “hated” Lemmy. They even came up with a name to identify each other because this joke of loving Lemmy was so funny. They called themselves Broemmys.

Then a bunch of other sites started to notice all the 9gaggers coming to Lemmy but didn’t know that it was supposed to be ironic, so they just came and had a really good time. They participated and were active in communities. They learned of the fediverse and just decided it was a really great place to be… Sometimes there was some NSFW stuff.

Then a bunch of them got together and decided throw Broemmycon and they hired a really pretty good band who does Broemmy based music to come and play as the event headliner. And everyone had a good time, even the old 9gaggers who used to think it was a joke.
