I have played the main game and while I thought it was okay, it was laps nothing particularly special. The typical wide but shallow but pretty but story free design of any open world game.

Do you like open world games? You’ll love it. Do open world’s bore you? You won’t love it.

I am happy I only paid 20 for the main game, at that price it was quite alright. The main story and dialogue are exceptionally bad even for an open world game, but the writing of the bigger side quests makes up for that and some are fantastic. Judy in particular is really well done and her extra portions and romance were fantastically voiced, too.

Two too many, if you ask me. They wanted out, happy they are out. Maybe help Scotland separate and join the EU again, but that’s where it ends.

And you’d think at the latest when the Brexit happens and totally fucked up logistics, industry and the already ailing healthcare in the UK, the right-wing voters might have realized “Oh wait, maybe the people we’ve been voting for us have been lying and it was rather obvious with how they didn’t want to be associated with the shit they made us vote for after it actually worked out and they won the vote”. Nope. They’re proud of it. All the mean mean evil EU now being mean to lil’ ol’ England out of pure spite. Aye.

(to be fair we already did that a long time ago when we banished them to a damp, sad and depressing island in the north sea)

Effectively, why does the talent search need to targets a small section of society

It doesn’t.

It targets a small portion of the talent search at a small section of society. As in, ensure equal chance and access.

They know what they want to pay for and its the job of an industry to provide this.

As someone working in IT, this could not be more wrong.

Don’t promote an idea because of who made it, promote the idea because its a great idea.

Welcome to movies and filmmaking. You might not have experienced any of it yet and not seen movies or movie-fans yet in your life, but take some notes when you do, they sadly won’t at all align with your idealistic ideas how it ought to work.

@Carighan@lemmy.world avatar

That makes no sense.

I mean, how else do you want it explained? It’s spelled out in the article why it’s the same type of problem.

As for homogeneity, that didn’t stop the Wachowski sisters from a poorly made rehashed cash grab of a Matrix movie.

Yes, and they’re in a very unique situation, and importantly, were famous before they came out. Good luck doing it the other way around. Hence Ms Blanchett doing this, it’s about giving equal chances.

Yeah my parents back in the days had a lot of cats, and one of them had to have the claws taken off one paw. 😢

Alex seems more and more unhinged lately

Yeah this surprised me, too. For all the time I’ve heard KF analyse his shows, he seemed to age poorly of course - owing probably a fair bit to his rampant alcoholism - but otherwise on-track. At all times. He was always just a right-wing grifter, following whatever trend he could exploit to sell more gold/waterfilters/bonemealshakes/whatever with. But the recent 2-3 months? Damn.

Weren’t they also the organisation involved in pushing animal euthanasia widely?

Getting there, slowly but steadily.

Creating 100% renewable energy is awesome, but having to import a lot of dirty energy from abroad isn’t really helping much on the global scale.

If the power networks are connected, you sometimes have surprisingly little control over it, tbh.

Plus “We need to be self-sustaining in our power production” is a very different thing than getting all the energy you produce to be green. It’s not as simple as “Well just build more wind/solar/tide generators!”, it requires a complete rethinking of how you route and balance your network as even the most energy-producing countries regularly import power depending on current load and network state.

That is to say, don’t belittle an achievement of producing 100% green energy. The other part, no longer consuming any non-green imported energy, is a nearly unrelated problem.

Only since a few years we are stupid enough to constantly conflate climate impact with risk assessment.

Carighan,
@Carighan@lemmy.world avatar

Yep, this usually eshews the nuclear parts of building construction and fuel transports. That being said, older solar panels and wind farms are a problem as far as I remember from local news, as they’re tricky~impossible to recycle and die pretty quickly. Newer generations replacing them of course no longer have that problem, but if anything that shows that the comparison is a bit senseless in the first place.

Carighan,
@Carighan@lemmy.world avatar

That’s true. I wonder how those statistics are made, where they say how many % of imports are from what resource, that I have seen floating around. Could be estimates, I guess?

Yeah I guess based on the power production percentages of the countries and companies they paid for imported power.

Carighan,
@Carighan@lemmy.world avatar

But hold on, isn’t it about providing global internet in way X versus way Y? So it’s more about the specific way, which is fucking everything up.

Carighan,
@Carighan@lemmy.world avatar

Plus, the idea that this would not raise prices to customers by 1% while also not letting any of the money get to where it was supposed to be is ludicrous.

Carighan,
@Carighan@lemmy.world avatar

So far. Multiple countries are swinging hard right and populist, including blaming the EU for every problem from unemployment to a flat tire.

And you’d think that being able to see how much it fucked up England, no one would fall for that. But it’s always easy to cash in voters by just yelling aggressively and loudly how unfair everything is, since everyone is always looking for an easy solution to their problems.

Carighan,
@Carighan@lemmy.world avatar

To be fair, we’re talking about a whole country founded by religious nutjobs that fled from Europe to practice their weird splinter cults in peace.

Great, now I have Mordin singing I Am The Very Model Of a Scientist Salarian stuck in my head again.

Really though, this seems neat. It is just contraception, it doesn’t spread, it doesn’t get passed on, nothing. But it’s much easier than sterilization or castration as far as procedure time goes.

I suspect the river goddess will be pleased.

(Sorry, just read a few more Rivers of London novels to catch up)
