Chetzemoka,

This is how I feel. I don’t hate Google. But I do want to see them broken up and regulated much more than they currently are.

Chetzemoka,

schizophrenic access to high-powered firearms massive dose of right-wing idiocy

Two of those things dramatically increase the chance of violence, and schizophrenia ain’t one of them. Let’s not perpetuate myths that mentally ill people are inherently prone to violence because they’re not.

Chetzemoka,

Oh right, cause you totally have the power to use a gun against a corrupt cop under our current laws lmao. Just another delusional grad.ml use

Chetzemoka,

Actual regular people haven’t accepted it as normal. Fascists in our country continue to hamstring any efforts to fix the situation because they want the rest of us to keep being reminded that the fascists can and will murder us at will. Standard issue stochastic terrorism.

Chetzemoka,

Winnie the Pooh is a stuffed teddy bear, not a “yellow animal”

Chetzemoka,

“We”

I think YOU need to go meet some conservatives, because I have absolutely heard that exact terminology from some of my conservative relatives.

Chetzemoka,

Just to let you know, picking skin is not inherently a symptom of some deep hidden trauma. Sometimes brains do things a little randomly without there being deep psychological reasons behind it all, and that’s fine, if that’s the case.

Talk to your therapist about it, but don’t think you need to go hunting down some secret trauma, if you don’t feel traumatized or don’t remember experiencing trauma. Because sometimes the answer is just “brains do be like that though”

Chetzemoka,

Two cats is the perfect number of cats. It’s hard when they adopt you though.

Chetzemoka, (edited )

También no mueran en el hospital, cabrones.

Con amor, una enfermera

Chetzemoka,

I talk to you folks lol. I use this pretty much the same way I did Reddit. Something kinda brainless to scroll when I’m standing in line. And the more you comment, the more you have to read/do on here, so when I’m particularly bored, I talk more. I also don’t have any other social media.

I have a couple phone puzzle games I play. If I know I’m gonna be sitting like in a waiting room for a while, I’ll take a book with me. For the longer moments sitting at home, podcasts and music.

Chetzemoka,

United HealthCare

Oh wait, you CAN’T boycott them. The ultimate monopoly.

Chetzemoka,

They actually do need to fly nose first, believe it or not! The warp bubble created by the nacelle has a front side and a back side. Essentially it bunches up space behind the ship and thins it out in front of the ship, turning space itself into a sort of wave that the ship surfs forward on.

This is what I remember from the TNG Tech Manual anyway

Chetzemoka,

It’s not never ending. We’re very critical of the racism and sexism in medical research. And the younger generations of doctors are far more aware of it.

We used to butcher women in radical mastectomy surgeries and we don’t do that anymore. We used to do medical experiments on black Americans without telling them and we don’t do that anymore. For everything that you can point to as a current problem, I can point to another thing that used to be a problem and now has been corrected.

And still none of that has anything to do with physics, chemistry, materials science, geology, oceanography. You can’t just say “racism impacts some sciences therefore we shouldn’t do science at all”

Chetzemoka,

Lord in heaven above, this child. You haven’t listened to a single word I’ve said and you’re just repeating yourself. Have a good night.

Chetzemoka,

No I’m just amusing myself at this point because I can tell you’re one of those people who needs to have the last word

Chetzemoka,

You’re hilarious. Thank you for the entertainment. Have a good night

Chetzemoka,

And you’re an anti-intellectual ideologue.

What are your criteria for upvoting/downvoting?

I hate that I always compare Lemmy to Reddit, but Reddit used to have (not sure if they still do) guidelines called “Reddiquette” that included guidelines about upvoting and downvoting. I don’t remember the specifics (and sending too much of my browser traffic to Reddit makes me feel dirty) but one of the guidelines was...

Chetzemoka,

I’m pretty liberal with the upvotes. I like to encourage people to participate and an upvote feels like saying “hey I see you and thanks for sharing.” I regularly upvote things I don’t like or don’t agree with, if they are shared in good faith and contribute to the conversation.

Downvotes are for bigots and misinformation/disinformation/lies.

Chetzemoka, (edited )

Whales. I wanna ask what it really feels like to go that deep in the ocean as an air-breathing creature.

Chetzemoka, (edited )

Stamets, I’m so sorry. I hadn’t heard. I’ve lost people under bad circumstances. It’s not fair. The world should stop, everything should stop moving and everyone should stop what they’re doing and acknowledge the depth of loss and the void left where they used to be. But it doesn’t stop moving and that’s not fucking right and it’s not fucking fair.

Please do whatever you need to do to take care of yourself. Just do what’s next. Your only obligation in the world right now is to wake up and breathe. Everything else is bonus points. We’ll be here whenever you’re ready or even if you never want to talk to any of us again.

I’m so sorry that a good person is gone.

Chetzemoka,

Yeah, the problem is it slips too easily into essentialism. “Oh we evolved this way, nothing we can do about it I guess ¯_(ツ)_/¯”

Especially for questions like this, which could pretty easily be explained by cultural influences, no need to bring evolution into it.
