Following an investigation by Bloomberg, the company admitted that it had been employing third-party contractors to transcribe the audio messages that users exchanged on its Messenger app.

So not your IRL conversations.

There is no indication that Facebook has used the information it collected to sell ads.

So not for ads.

It says the opposite of the things you claimed.

Chozo,

A watch face for a smart watch.

This one guy made a really popular Android Wear watch face that mimicked the Pixel lockscreen. It only cost a few bucks, and people loved it. Due to some personal things in his life, he had to sell the app to a new developer to make ends meet. The new developer then started charging something like $7/WEEK subscription for a watchface that he didn't even develop in the first place, and runs entirely locally on the device so it's not like he's maintaining any servers or anything.

Absolutely absurd.

Google Researchers’ Attack Prompts ChatGPT to Reveal Its Training Data (www.404media.co)

ChatGPT is full of sensitive private information and spits out verbatim text from CNN, Goodreads, WordPress blogs, fandom wikis, Terms of Service agreements, Stack Overflow source code, Wikipedia pages, news blogs, random internet comments, and much more....

Chozo,

Again, the article doesn't say whether or not the data was intended to be public. People post their contact info online on purpose sometimes, you know. Businesses and shit. Which seems most likely to be what's happened, given that the example has a fax number.

Chozo,

I'd have to imagine that this PII was made publicly-available in order for GPT to have scraped it.

Chozo,

Could you elaborate as to what he's wrong about?

Chozo,

Taskmaster and WILTY are fantastic. These are some of my favorite "I want to watch something that I'll enjoy but don't need to actually care too much about" shows.

Chozo,

lmao what an absolutely moronic take.

Chozo,

The devs aren't the ones making these decisions. That's like chewing out a customer support rep because their CEO did something you didn't like. Aim your anger more carefully.

Chozo,

Common pirate mentality: anyone who has something I want doesn't deserve to have it.

Chozo,

This thread is unnecessary bullying. If you don't like his take, then downvote him and move on with your life. Posting his username and comment in another community/instance is just poor taste and makes you seem a bit like a crybaby.

Chozo,

That friend's name? Albert Einstein.

Chozo,

Or you could just post piracy-related things in a piracy-focused community. This isn't Facebook, go post your drama there.

Chozo,

I don't get why this would be a problem. It's just a poster image.

Hell, even if they used AI for the in-show VFX, I still don't see why it would be an issue. Almost all VFX for the last several years have been using some level of AI tools.

Chozo,

I think we can already tell which one you dislike more.

Chozo,

SEO really doesn't work organically, though. That's why there's a whole industry devoted to it.

Chozo,

Just curious, why not? Everything on the Fediverse is already public, by nature of federation. I think making the information shared here more easily discoverable is always a good thing.

Chozo,

You should be able to search them in the same format as you'd search for federated Lemmy communities. For instance, !askkbin@kbin.social should let you access Kbin's version of this community (assuming I know how to format the text correctly).

From there, you can subscribe to it from within your instance on lemmy.ml, and it'll show up in your feed as the rest of your content.

Chozo,

It looks like they're wanting to do a full rebrand as more of an actual social network, I think. Monetizing every single aspect of the platform sounds like a terrible way to go about it.

Chozo,

The Princess Bride is definitely up there for me. I don't usually rewatch movies, but this is one that I'll always be glad to sit through again and again.

Chozo,

I've been working a night shift for a few years now. Last 2 of which have been from at home. The social isolation is real. The only people you'll ever really get to hang out with outside of work, are the people you work with, since most of your normal-sleep-schedule-having friends aren't gonna be available when you are. There also won't be anywhere good to hang out at because everything's closed by the time you're off work.

Most of the world isn't designed for people with our schedule, unfortunately. Need to go to the post office for something? You're gonna have to either get up early or stay up late to do it. Need to do something that can really take up some time, like go to the DMV? You might need to schedule some time off, because that'll ruin your sleep schedule for a few days.

Being able to retain your sanity on this schedule really does require a bit of self-sufficience. You'll need to rely less on services that aren't available at night. You'll need to get comfortable with losing sleep to get important stuff done. It's tough, and while a lot of companies pay a differential to hourly employees on the night shift, it's rarely enough to justify the toll it takes on you if you don't have the right mindset for it.

Chozo,

they did not respond to a request to use the app with screen curtain on.

That's pretty damning. If they can't even demo it while simulating a real world use-case, then that tells me how little faith they really have in their product.

Chozo, to RedditMigration

Reddit admins appear to be removing links to Lemmy instances posted in comments.I'm seeing quite a few "[Removed by Reddit]" comments in /r/RedditAlternatives this evening. Anybody else seeing their comments being manipulated by Reddit staff today?
