Disney is raking its customers over the coals with a 75% price hike for their annual subscription (originally $80.) People wonder why piracy is on the rise.Multiple commenters are saying I’m off base about the 75% price increase. My payment less than a year ago was $79.99. Here’s the proof.
This is the biggest downfall of Emby/Jellyfin IMO. It’s a tradeoff from being reliant on Plex’s authentication servers, but requires a lot of technical knowledge to setup correctly (rather than just port forwarding and relying on a strong password).
Dude’s obviously mentally unstable and probably a pedophile. It takes a special type of person to shoehorn “child sex trafficking” and multiple references of “jerking off” into a discussion about media server software.
The reason I gave up on MP3’s and subscribed to Spotify was because Spotify was easy. I’ve been listening “Iron Maiden - Empire of the Clouds” song every day and like a week ago, its removed. This was the last straw for me. Right now I’m trying to find “Stremio” of the music world. Can someone assist?...
There are ways to rip physicsl media but they break the encryption which is ‘illegal’.
I meant more just having control of the actual files when buying from places like Amazon or ITunes rather than just being given library access to the songs for so long until that company loses the license and deletes them from your library.
It doesn’t make you anonymous. Torrent protocol wasn’t designed with anonymity in mind and there are a million ways you’re going to leak your actual IP address....
I’d just recommend not settling for something in poor condition just because you feel beat down or overwhelmed by the grind.
You will be filled with constant regret if you wind up buying some dilapidated property simply because you’re tired of the back and forth because once you sign the papers, you’re stuck with it. The process isn’t enjoyable, but try not to let that get to you.
Not sure what the exact condition of house is nor what contractors charge for work in your area, but in my area of the US, $15k isn’t going to get you very far on most projects. One of my coworkers just spent $27k to have an HVAC system installed and $40k for new windows. I think he got fleeced, but even halving those prices, you’re still being given a rough quote equivalent to these somewhat basic tasks for what sounds like serious structural work.
Yes the HVAC was a full install as he had an oil burning furnace with radiant floor heating prior to this. They installed an AC/furnace and ducting. The windows were through one of those sleazy companies like Renewal by Anderson and like I said I think he got fleeced on both jobs.
I think this is a commonly repeated but warped view of executive responsibility in a corporation. You could prioritize shareholder interest by chopping up and selling off successful parts of a corporation to get incredible quarterly results for a quarter or two, but quickly the corporation would dissolve due to a lack of an ability to make money. You could argue the CEO made the right call because shareholders made a lot of money in those quarters therefore he did what’s in their interest but at the same time he/she collapsed the entire company in order to do it, which isn’t in anyone’s interest. Prioritizing long-term growth can benefit shareholders even further than burning bright and burning out fast.
Prior to the last several decades, this is how companies operated, with an eye for long-term growth, but in recent history, this has shifted more toward short-term gains which has only benefitted the 1% of the 1%, while the rest of us suffer with inflation, recessions, unemployment, and an evaporating middle class.
Nah the website displayed “seed/leech” numbers can be outdated or fudged (1337x is notorious for this) but the number you see in Qbit will be accurate, however those 9 seeds you see are either people without the complete file or people who aren’t port forwarding because “you don’t need port forwarding for torrents” and you can’t connect to them.
The spotify app keeps getting worse by the week. At this point it won’t load my saved song list at all when I’m offline. While writing this, it just crashed in the background....
Lidarr automates the acquisition but doesn’t actually supply you with any songs to download. I have to agree with them that pirating music is not easy these days and this is coming from someone in about half a dozen private trackers with around 60TB of TV and movies on my server.
Aside from finding the files, there’s also barely any standard for file naming and lots of different sources for specific songs (from multiple different albums even) which makes managing it all a huge pain in the ass (Lidarr does help with this part though provided your sources are good).

In the bottom center of the Qbit app does the icon show as red, yellow, or green? This displays whether you are connectable or not. I’d bet it’s a port issue. If Proton offers port forwarding, find the port they assigned you and input it into the “incoming connections” port in the Qbit settings.
Why would you make the honeypot private? Much better to cast a wide net if that’s your goal. They’re pretty much universally ‘safer’ and better quality in my experience
It’s been a while since I read about it but IIRC, rescuers arrived just days later and were able to follow their tracks down the mountain to where some of the bodies were eventually found. An avalanche powerful enough to kill the whole party surely would have wiped all this away even if some of it had melted away in the preceding couple of days.
I have an old computer that I use for storing and streaming my media. It has an attached external drive. I would like to increase my storage and build something that could be extensible to at least 100TB. I am not worried about backup....
