Seeing the other post here about YouTuber that went downhill and seeing content creators I am familiar with makes me sad. But how about those that still makes great, high quality content?
I know there are several similar channels so maybe I’m mixed up, but wasn’t this the one where they found out the guy was using machinery to create his projects off camera and claiming it was all done by hand?

I’m in the need of upgrading my storage now and I found what I consider to be a good deal via Amazon on an older gen enterprise WD drive that supposedly hasn’t been used, but I’ll let the power on hours tell me the truth. The price is about 16usd/TB and I’m wondering if this is a bad idea...
Don’t use Amazon or Ebay, use something like serverpartdeals.com so you know you’re not buying from some fly-by-night company that’ll disappear when you try to do a warranty claim.
Considering this guy is looking to slap some drives into his personal computer in order to store some movies, who gives a shit if they’re enterprise drives or not? I have numerous 6 year old ‘junk’ drives in my server that haven’t given me a single issue the entire time powered on 24/7. It’s not like he’s looking for drives to put in a Facebook datacenter.
I bought my last 14TB drive with them after buying new ones over the last 6 years. I definitely wish I would have heard about them sooner as I could have a lot more storage at a lot lower price if I had.

Pretty much. I have 1080P Bluray for movies, two 720p for TV, and a “give me the lowest resolution available” for stuff my users request but I feel has little value (like reality TV). For TV I have two 720p profiles but one maxes out at 720p with only lower resolutions below the cutoff while the other includes 1080p but only if 720p isn’t available meaning they’re placed below 720p in order of priority.

A lot of my files were shitty 480p versions of movies from the Napster days. Now they’re all 1080p, with a few 720p exceptions (mainly tv series episodes). All in all 500 something files in total. Now just watching uTorrent slowly download them all. Hopefully my VPN keeps the eyes off of me…
NordVPN also doesn’t have port forwarding so you’re unlikely to be able to seed anything back. This’ll get you banned from private trackers and goes against the whole concept of torrenting.
Yes I was actually sad to leave Mullvad, and the developer was pretty cool about giving refunds, so I’d definitely go back if things changed in the future.
AirVPN does have port forwarding and is what I wound up switching to. So far, everything is working fine and there are a decent number of servers available.

I think it’s more nefarious than that. Many departments want a good 'ol boys club where they’re the ultimate authority and they want their officers to fall in line rather than question department actions.
I followed the instructions and opted out yet I’m still seeing what my users watched along with getting emails listing the same. I’m certain none of my users are interested in this and likely skipped through the pop-up without reading/comprehending it.
It’s not easier than configuring each one once and then letting them do all the work from there on out. Not trying to convince you to use them but they’re pretty damn great especially when you’re trying to watch multiple TV shows or see a movie that came out a lot sooner than you thought it would.
