Custoslibera,

If you had of invested the equivalent amount of money in the Dow Jones index instead of purchasing 10kg of gold and kept it invested from 1920-2024 you would have ~$15 million.

Custoslibera,

I swear when Wikipedia was a Wild West and weird edits stayed up for a long time there was an entry on the Conway Twitty article that described a story about a man who was divorcing a woman who was just a terrible person. He ended up walking out of their house with nothing but came back only for his Conway Twitty records.

That story always stuck with me and made me appreciate the impact Conway had.

Custoslibera,

This better be a gif of Jim Carey being born out of a rhinoceros because it’s not loading for me and this comment will make no sense otherwise.

This has to be stopped. Just look at what Napster did to the music industry. That’s right, there used to be a music industry and now it’s just…gone. No more music, no more money to be made in music. Don’t let these evil streaming services do the same to poor defenceless Hollywood, bastion of women’s rights!

Custoslibera,

Ignore the idiots.

Taylor Swift is just as bad as Elon Musk. No one should be a billionaire. No one.

Custoslibera,

You’re wrong.

My opinion is better than yours.

Custoslibera,

What, in your opinion, is actually increasing fascism if not Trump?

Custoslibera,

Hmmmm

It’s possible to be more than one thing driving fascism.

In the absence of a general worker uprising to bring about revolution (this isn’t going to happen before the election) stopping Trump is a fine alternative to stem fascism.

We know that fascists need a charismatic leader with unquestionable authority (Trump) may as well cut that head off the snake now.

Does that stop capitalist interests? No, their money and power is still there but it at least won’t be manifesting through a dictator.

Capitalist interests have operated just fine without a dictator.

Custoslibera,

My pleasure. Hope your English studies go well.

Custoslibera,

Grammar Nazi is an english term that means someone who is very strict about using correct words and punctuation.

It is meant to be humorous. It does not mean they are a Nazi.

Custoslibera,

Did you think it wasn’t a real word and google it?

I live in the hope you did.

Not today Lemmy grammar Nazis…not today.

Custoslibera,

I’m sure that baby was Christian too. Just like Jesus.

Custoslibera,

Very interesting perspective that you wouldn’t encourage your kids to do the same as you, why’s that?

To be honest if my kids married at 20 it’s not like I’d try to stop it, despite my reservations about it. I’d think it was a potential mistake but that’s coming from me as concern rather than disapproval.

Custoslibera,

Oh I have issues with commitment and a constant feeling of ‘Is this the best I can expect?’ but I don’t regret my younger life.

My ‘weird’ sentiment stems more from me looking in from the outside at relationships where 20 year olds decide they want to spend the rest of their lives with each other. I can’t imagine missing out on potentially meeting someone more compatible. Can you really meet the most compatible person for you when you’re 20?

When I was 20 I was a very different person, I’m assuming that’s similar for others.

Other commenters have talked about how they grow with partners but I wonder if it’s truly possible to do that while being so ‘together’ with another person. Some things you have to learn on your own.

Custoslibera,

Luck is something I didn’t consider.

Custoslibera,

Hahahahahaha

Cries in paralysing anxiety

Custoslibera,

I’m more referring to myself.

I was in my 20’s once and thought I was a fully fledged adult. In some ways I was, in others I was not, I was still just a kid.

Probably say the same about myself in another 20 years.

You silly billy.

The point is that neither man is likely to have a cognitive condition that would affect their presidency.

It’s hypocritical because the Republicans constantly attack Biden for similar gaffes despite the fact Biden is pretty much just like Trump when it comes to mental acuity.

Do I think trump has completely lost his marbles because of one gaffe? No.

In the same way Biden is just as coherent.

Both men being relatively equal on this the distinguishing factor then turns to the fact that one has said they will be a literal dictator and the other likes ice cream and capitalism.
