I have to admit I probably would have read yellow in that context to mean ‘cowardly’ rather than with racist connotations but I can see how it could be taken that way.
I’ve always just used konsole or gnome terminal. Never really looked into what else is available. Tried cool-retro-term the other day, but the novelty wore off pretty fast for me....
Kitty the vast majority of the time but slowly using Ghostty more and more as it improves. Sometimes use Tabby and have been looking into Wave recently. I also use the x-terminal-reloaded package in the Pulsar editor for a dock terminal if im doing something in it at the same time.
You are probably already aware but there is OpenSCAD which allows you to model via programming rather than by UI. Not really an apples to apples equivalent but I find it decently interesting. I do wish there was something a little more more overtly friendly to beginners like Fusion360 though.
I know it doesn’t tick the boxes but there technicality is a Microsoft made, open source, alternative to Explorer. The original File Manager for Windows 3.1 and it is still seeing active development. Just thought to bring it to attention for a bit of nostalgic fun but I actually find myself using it a fair bit.
Hello linix@lemmy, I got fixed on the idea of replacing my iPad with a 2in1 like the thibkpad X13 for uni since I use the keyboard with my iPad a lot. The only time I need to take handwritten notes is in chemistry, mathematics and to annotate PDFs. Does anyone here have experience with convertibles running Linux? What would be...
I got to that once, on mobile I’ve never worked out the rule for when FF opens a new tab vs opening a site in your current tab. They just kind of silently accumulate.
I have an Thinkpad X380 Yoga running stock Fedora with GNOME and it works pretty damn well. The pen works and it recognises the buttons, the auto appearing keyboard works and so does the auto rotate. Basically very few problems at all, I don’t use it all that extensively outside of GIMP though.
I like the idea of nixOS and will definitely try it in the future to see how portable I can make the setup be (hopefully a couple of files that can configure the entire machine)....
Hi, I’m looking for a distro for my laptop. My first distro was Pop!_OS, then I switched to Fedora, then Arch for a year and 2 months ago I switched to Fedora Silverblue, because I wanted to try immutable distro that relies on containers and flatpaks to be usefull. Silverblue is great but not so much for me, its not flexible...
I’ve not used either, just look on as a curious spectator, I’ve yet to leave the more idiot proof distros of mint and fedora. What makes it so hard to deal with vs nix?

What are some companies that deserve to be boycotted to death?
So far my list includes Comcast, EA, and Nestle. Tell me yours, and I’ll help out.

Hello,...
What's your experience with a touchscreen laptop on your distro?
Hello everyone!...
What are your thoughts on a possible NixOS without systemd?
I like the idea of nixOS and will definitely try it in the future to see how portable I can make the setup be (hopefully a couple of files that can configure the entire machine)....
