No. 220v/50hz in china, 120v/60hz in North America.

The plugs are similar though, with china using the non-polarized and un-grounded version of the plug used in North America. (two flat blades, same width as Americas live pin) If you didn’t know better, you could plug in the wrong things in either country.

Space heaters and hot plates are already dangerous enough that allowing double the current seems like a hazard

You’d require half the current for the same wattage at 240v. At most, it’s the same 15a max, with double the voltage.

Tbh I think I’d rather achieve the same heat output by running them at 240v using less current instead of 110v and pulling as much current as possible/permitted (15a).

Insulation is cheaper than actual conductors too. Higher voltage and lower current means thinner conductors with more insulation to protect them. You’d also remove complexity and thus cost by only needing one voltage. No need for a split phase supply.

I think 240v would be a better option. 🇨🇦

PC died. Trying the legal options.

And fuck. I really miss plex. I’ve had Netflix and Hulu forever as family won’t let me cancel. Decided to sign up to Paramount + for some Trek. Twice in lower decks it didn’t save my watched episodes. Doesn’t mark episode as watched if you exit during the credits. And multiple playback issues....

Sure there’s occasionally issues with source media or how it was imported, but the big difference: I can fix problems with emby/plex. I can correct messed up metadata, or run a partially corrupted file through a converter to fix it, or just replace files entirely; all in a few minutes. (and none of these I have to do very often. Like one or two files a month, while constantly adding new content daily)

Most of the problems paid streaming services have, just have to be delt with until the provider gets around to fixing it, if they ever do at all. Then you add on content being scattered across 10 different services, artificial quality limitations, tracking, lack of or very poorly implemented offline playback, the inability to share with friends/family, advertising (now even being added to services built-on being ‘ad-free’), the list goes on…

As a note: I use Emby and have never had an issue losing my watched position and have only had maybe 1 in 1000 items incorrectly identified (out of a library of 4k movies and 34k tv epps).

I tried to add Sonarr to my Plex and I wanted to make an easy way to add series-es from work or wherever so I wanted to use an iMDB list but they didn't have that on Sonarr so I used a Trakt list and (lemmy.dbzer0.com)

…I just accidentally downloaded my entire watch history from the beginning of time. Stopped it by hitting airplane mode. It was at 1750+ and growing....

Was gonna say, I only use IMDB lists and I’ve got like 12 of them monitored. You can definitely use them in sonarr and radarr.

Accessed from the same port.

Each service runs/listens on its own port, including the proxy (typically 80/443). When you connect to the proxy using its port, it will look at the domain name you used and proxy your connection to the port for the service that name is setup for.

So when you go to expose these to the network/internet, you only have to expose the port the proxy listens to and the clients only ever use that port regardless of how many services/domains you host.

Darkassassin07, (edited )
@Darkassassin07@lemmy.ca avatar

Yes, typically the proxy will listen on 443/80 and all the services it proxies to just use their defaults.

For example: emby.example.tld, port 443 > cloudflare, port 443 > your reverse proxy, port 443 > emby, port 8096

All the client sees is emby.example.tld on port 443 and the resulting web application, everything in between is transparent.

Sure, but the question free returns are a big part of why no (well, very few) decent brands can be found on Amazon anymore.

Anyone with actually good products doesn’t have the profit margins to be forced into accepting obviously unacceptable returns. (eg customer returns item they clearly broke, gets full refund, retailer is stuck with it). They also have good enough products that they don’t have to put up with Amazon to reach the masses, they can sell anywhere else.

Darkassassin07,
@Darkassassin07@lemmy.ca avatar

Question free returns as in even if you’re clearly in the wrong; purchased an item, throughly destroyed it, returned for a full refund. The seller gets to shut up and eat that cost because amazon already gave the customer their money back and isn’t interested in hearing your claim as a seller.

This is why you can only find random ass bramd names you’ve never heard of throughout 99% of Amazon. Seller’s refuse to be treated this way. (or at least anyone with anything actually worth purchasing)

“rent/buy”

You mean rent for x amount of time, or rent for an undetermined amount of time.

We don’t do ‘buy’ anymore, that’s just rent without knowing when your rental is over.

Then take a look at the manufacturers website and see what retailers they use.

Many stores will also let you order items for pickup that they don’t normally stock at your local location. Ask a clerk or again, check their site.

Darkassassin07,
@Darkassassin07@lemmy.ca avatar

I have actually, quite a bit. Finding products and store’s that sell them really isn’t that hard.

The only thing I use amazon for is a general catalogue of items; once I find something I’d like, I buy it elsewhere.

Look, I agree his works shouldn’t be destroyed, just not monetizable.

But the dude poked a bear with a sharp stick… Suing the creators of the story/characters you’ve built your content on for copyright infringement? Brilliant move…

Darkassassin07,
@Darkassassin07@lemmy.ca avatar

He explicitly sued Tolkiens estate. Effectively the same.

Your semantics aren’t appreciated.

Darkassassin07,
@Darkassassin07@lemmy.ca avatar

Lmao, I don’t even like Tolkiens work…

Nor do I agree with copyright law.

However; simply disagreeing with reality doesn’t change it.

But; go ahead and continue to personally attack strangers on the internet instead of actually working towards the change you want to see. I’m sure it’ll be effective.

Darkassassin07,
@Darkassassin07@lemmy.ca avatar

If the estate had gone after the author, this would be a very different conversation; but that’s not what happened. The author chose to involve Tolkiens estate, knowing the current climate around copyright.

I struggle to find sympathy for that.

Then you add on direct personal insults instead of constructive conversation and I completely check out. It’s not worth my energy to have a discussion with such people.

Darkassassin07,
@Darkassassin07@lemmy.ca avatar

I’m not even the person who insulted you

I’m aware, the reply was still directed at you.

You’ve clearly already checked out

Yup, that’s what I just said.

maybe don’t partake in conversations you’re not going to bother to even pay attention.

You’re the third party entering the thread I created and a conversation I was having with someone else, long after I’ve clearly checked out.

Maybe don’t involve yourself in other people’s conversations and then expect their full attention.

Ombi > Radarr/Sonarr > Emby.

I want to watch something: open a webpage I host, search for title (results from thetvdb/themoviedb), click ‘add+search’. Around 15min later I get an email notifying me it’s available to watch. I then open another webpage I host and stream away.

My friends and family have access to this as well. Items they add will email me for approval before downloading, but is otherwise the same.

Normal domain only for allowing others access to specific services (like friends+family into emby/plex/jellyfin). VPN for easily secured access to all the backend interfaces like radarr/sonarr/qbittorrent or private services like vaultwarden.

I also run the VPN to keep mobile devices behind pihole for adblocking.

But sending the goods to the actual cardholder informs them of the fraudulent use, pretty much ensuring they deactivate the card number. Talk about burning the bridge you’re standing on…

I’ve always found the servarr wiki to be a great source of info, especially their quick start quides.

Beyond that I’d just be googling around for you really.
