You just made me curious and we're not alone in wondering

To have a scanner that can record the position of every atom in the body to an accuracy of the order of the size of a hydrogen atom would require position accuracy of about 10-10 meters. To get that accuracy over a distance of order 1 meter, this would require 30 decimal digits, which would be about 100 binary digits per atom. However, there would be a lot of redundancy in this data, so let’s be optimistic and assume you could compress this down to 1 bit per atom, so we still need approximately 1027 bits of data to just specify the positions of all the atoms in a human body. According to Wikipedia (Exabyte), the approximate data storage capacity of all the computers and storage devices in the world today is roughly 1 zettabyte = 1021 bytes = 1022 bits. Therefore, the data for the scan of one human would require at least 10,000 times the total storage of all the data stored on Earth right now.

Opinion: Make shows as long as they need to be to tell their story or joke or whatever.

Nah, this is the guy that basically spawned the entire “genre”. He’s legit as can get.

I know 2/3 of those events, I’m also not American and have my own countries events to remember.

Also I 100% doubt any Zoomer (or anyone else) today will remember 90% of this stuff in 30 years either.

And by 1995 we already had search engines and could look up information. WebCrawler, Lycos, Alta Vista, Jeeves, Dogpile, Yahoo, etc.

You seem to think the 90s and 2000s were some technological dark age on par with the 80s.

You literal 7 year old is not 5. Of those events you listed, the Troubles is the only one I was over 4 years to experience the end portion.

Go ask your 7 year old niece what Bombs Over Baghdad by OutKast is about and see if they don’t guess the War On Terror/OIL.

That isn’t the issue, by the new millennium, it’s millennials were well and truly getting all our knowledge digitally.

Honestly you sound more like a Xenial or Gen X’er, because your experiences sound so outdated.

Well if you’re an advanced alien race, imagine hearing this on your airwaves

“What a joyous day, our messages have been received we’ve made first contact with an unidentified vessel in our solar system “

A few days later

“oh god why? They’re killing everyone it’s a slaughter out there”

And radio silence.

And imagine every time you hear something it ends the same way.

Oh I’m just pretending you said an unpopular comment and giving the sort of expected reply.

Well you start by not continuing to fuck over the indigenous peoples.

Are Canadian cops still doing the driving people out into the snow and letting them die walking back to the city thing?

Deceptichum,
@Deceptichum@kbin.social avatar

No, not at all.

That’s why people like them, you can say make me a photo of a “monkey riding a pickle in space” or “a dog made of cheese” and it’ll make it despite obviously having no reference.

It only needs to be trained to know what things are, it can mix them freely.

Deceptichum,
@Deceptichum@kbin.social avatar

They'll never forget the rejection either.

Youse have two accents, American and Southern.

Britain has a new accent every 20cm.

This sounds much the same level as any other folklore?

Next level is watching YouTube summaries of shows and movies.

I wish I could go tell this to that hack who wrote the “Iliad”. Like seriously you’re going to go and insert some stupid love shot into your kick arse war story? Oh and don’t even get me started on using the name Helen in a fantasy Greek setting, pffft.

Is Spotify dropping the songs or are the record companies?

This fast food order kiosk accepts cash (mander.xyz)

All the McD*nalds in my area have been upgraded with order kiosks. Regardless of all the controversy around self-checkout, and minimum wage, and automation taking our jobs, I personally love them. I can take my sweet time composing my order, I can see the full selection (such as it is), I can see pictures and prices clearly...

Deceptichum,
@Deceptichum@kbin.social avatar

Oh fuck off with that Luddite shit.

Automation is great, the issue is capitalism. Demanding the world not progress because Capitalists will fuck people over is idiotic.

This was around the time the Memeluk Sultanate ruled Egypt, yeah?

I'd have thought listening to them would be more helpful?
