Can I pre-install Ubuntu on an SSD?

Ths might be a silly question, but asking those is how i learn sometimes. I’m trying to install my first Linux distro to set up a Plex server and one of the few things I know is you need a wired internet connection. My intended server location is across the house from my router, and there isnt much room there to set up...

Diplomjodler3,

Jellyfin is free and open source. To me that’s always the preferred option. Plus, it works very nicely. Haven’t used Plex in a very long time but when I tried it, I didn’t like it.

Diplomjodler3,

I once transferred an SSD with a Linux Mint installation on it to another computer. It booted up without any issues whatsoever so I’d say it’s perfectly doable.

Diplomjodler3,

Don’t forget police murdering people and doing highway robbery.

Diplomjodler3,

Exactly. If you have to ask this sort of question, the answer is those three. Everything else is just confusing.

Diplomjodler3,

Yes. Do this. It’ll be unpleasant but you’ll regret it for the rest of your life if you don’t do it.

Diplomjodler3,

If you just want stuff to work with minimal hassle, Linux Mint is an excellent choice. PopOS is also often recommended, especially for laptops. If you really want to get into the nitty gritty, something Arch based might fit the bill.
