I cooked food for 20 years. Now I build computers and dive down Linux 🐇 🕳️ on a personal learning journey.

Mostly, I cat sit and watch anime when not gaming or editing files.

Fibromyalgia sucks! Existence is pain and resistance is futile. Thanks for noticing me.

Linux working in one monitor but not in the other

So, yesterday I was trying to install Fedora on a PC with an Nvidia graphics card, it is a bit old and it has an Intel CPU. Basically as soon as I booted the USB it went all weird like if it would be having a graphical glitch like going all rainbow in some parts and stop responding, I tried a few more times under a UEFI secure...

What’s your exact hardware?

Did you install with secure boot disabled?

Probably Nouveau issue. ⚠️

For installing Nvidia drivers on Fedora:

Or give Universal Blue a try, take the pain away:

Atomic desktops are cool.

Also available as Bazzite for 🎮:

Or Project Bluefin for 🖥️ dev:

If you want a KDE Fedora powered experience I definitely have to suggest Universal Blue Kinoite-main or Bazzite-Desktop. 🤟

Universal Blue project is OCI RPM OSTREE container native, atomic Fedora.

Silverblue/Kinoite/Serica/Onyx, but with extra batteries+codecs+hardware acceleration out of the box.

“Think Chromebook easy, but Fedora.”

Bazzite is pretty amazing 🎮:

Project Bluefin for Developers 🦖:

If you update your normal Fedora system, they should all be running the same kernel.

Sometimes the installers can be stale…you can try installing ISOs from the net installer or nightlies:

Rather… I tried to find links to share… But everything looks to be rawhide… 😕

On atomic side, ublu automatically updates the system image, any layered RPMs as well as flatpaks and other containers/Docker/Podman/Distrobox.

Like Steam OS, if you want to enable -testing channel for updates on Ublu, you can make it more bleeding edge.

I think most dual booters on Ublu use seperate drives for windows.

And use their BIOS to boot to that drive instead of grub.

I think premiumize doesn’t care if you use multiple IP addresses. When you do, it deducts some Fair Use points. Instead of getting an account ban.

I also use mine as a seed-box for torrents. When I’m not just streaming on my Kodi Setup with Seren / TMDb Helper / Trakt.

Also have it set-up with my RSS feeds for Anime.

You didn’t say what CPU you are choosing. 5500X3D and 5700X3D are literally around the corner. But for gaming the 5800X3D would be best in slot for AM4.

You also didn’t say If you live near a Microcenter:

What's up with all these immutable distributions? What are the benefits and disadvantages of them?

For once I feel a little out of touch after I took a bit of a break from following the news to focus on studying, and suddenly everyone is talking about immutable distributions. What are they exactly? What are the benefits and the disadvantages of immutable systems?

I love Universal Blue.

It’s OCI cloud image based Fedora Silverblue/Kinoite/Serica with extra steps/batteries included.

“The reliability of a Chromebook, but with the flexibility and power of a traditional Linux desktop.”

But also probably an easier way for Nvidia Fedora users to game on Linux:

Easily roll back deployments or 📌 one and rebase to something else easy peasy. (So many different choices) Test betas with no fear!

I’ve actually been gaming on Bazzite for two weeks now:

Jorge’s Blog:

If you wanna simply make your own image to share with friends/family:

Universal Blue isn’t a distro. It’s more of a reimplementation/enhancement of Immutable OCI Cloud Based Images of Fedora.

I’ve been watching it since the initial API changes announcement.

Started at 3.9, it’s at 3.1 now.
