I used to use Liftoff, I changed to Jerboa when my instance upgraded to 0.19.
It has dark mode, landscape, and support for multiple accounts. It’s open-source if that’s the kind of thing that tickles your fancy. Also, it’s by the same dev as lemmy itself so compatibility shouldn’t be an issue going forward.
Personally what I’ve found works for me is to focus on news that’s local to me, the more local the better. So I start with news about my municipality, then my province, then my country, and I try to keep it at that for the most part. Of course, world news slips through, especially American politics, but I try to keep it at bay as much as possible.
I honestly had a bit of a nervous breakdown around the start of the war in Ukraine, doomscrolling through articles and updates everyday. I realized I needed to dial back and tried to cut out all news, and that just ended up making me more anxious. Focusing on local news has been the Goldilocks zone for me. I’ll still consume stuff about world news occasionally, but it’s usually in a way that relates to my country, for example articles about Canada’s support of Israel on the world stage.
Some news sources are definitely more inflammatory than others. I’m also of the opinion that television news in general is a farce, to the extent that the best “journalists” on TV in recent memory have been comedians like Jon Stewart and John Oliver.
GrapheneOS and Android are both based on AOSP, and calling/texting is such basic functionality for a mobile OS that I doubt that GrapheneOS’ implementation is much different from Android’s, if at all.
I’ve been on GrapheneOS for the past year or so, I’ve never actually enjoyed using my phone as much as I do now. No Samsung apps I can’t uninstall, no Google spyware, the only stuff running on my device is stuff I want it to run, the way I want it to run.
Unless you have a specific constraint not mentioned in your post, it would probably just be a waste of time compared to just downloading an existing rip from a torrent site. Especially considering most stuff on Disney+ is fairly mainstream and should be easy to find.
Trying to rip from Disney rather than finding a source to download it would be more time-consuming and would likely end up with worse quality than what the various scene groups get out.
It’s been a bit of a shit one. Finances are rough right now as I’ve been looking for a job for quite some time, and I learned just yesterday that my roommate is moving out on the first of February and didn’t think it was something she really needed to tell me in advance. So I’ll be on the hook for the full rent amount, which is around twice what I have in my bank account right now.
I did apply for a really cool job with a queer non-profit, so fingers crossed I’ll get that and my luck will start turning around!
Referring to femme-presenting people as “traps” is transphobic, originating in the idea that trans women are somehow disingenuous by showing their true selves to the world. Because horny cis straight guys might get horny about trans women (and that’s bad for some reason).
Hasn’t been updated since the summer, and doesn’t work with versions 0.19 of lemmy or newer. I heard the dev had twins, which yeah fair enough take all the time off your open source lemmy app.
Uh, no need to apologize? I’m not offended at “Gnome being garbage”. I don’t feel any offense at all, to be honest.
I am slightly annoyed at the “too-bad-it’s-Gnome” comment, which is why I pointed it out. It’s fine to not like Gnome, heck, I don’t like Gnome. I don’t see why that should translate into having a shitty attitude towards people who do like it. I’m just glad people are using FOSS, whether it be some nerd dev on an obscure tiling WM perfectly customized to suit their needs, or some tech-illiterate noobie using Linux Mint and a GUI software manager.
Disregarding the DE-shaming (which, lol who cares? let people use what they like) how do you even figure OP uses Gnome? I can’t make out anything on their screen from the picture apart from the neofetch.
