I was building a floppy drive Linux distro for file recovery. I had it mounted under /mnt and wanted to do ‘rm -rf ./home’ inside /mnt but did ‘rm -rf /home’. I noticed quickly and hit Ctrl+C but still a lot of files were gone. Fortunately my file recovery distro was nearly finished so I’ve booted it and recovered all my files. I never had to use this distro again.
No one stops you from moving to Wayland. It has it’s uses. But the FUD you’re spreading is stupid and boring. X is fine, it’s exactly what a lot of people need and it doesn’t make sense to move their DEs to Wayland only because it’s ‘new’. The fact that it took Wayland 10 years to reach any sort of usability shows just how little does it offer to an average user.
A number of candidates will create their own forks and there will be a long Game of Thrones style war between different factions. After couple of weeks each distro will choose the fork they will make the default one and people will split into warring factions. After that we will enter a nuclear winter style period lasting couple of years during which 90% of post on Lemmy will be just shitposting the rival forks. After a decade or two of backstabbing, dirty politics and other drama new dictator will be selected and all will be back to normal.
Infinity Wars was stupid. Have some super heroes run around fighting bad guys trying to destroy the world for some stupid reason. There was no pick. It’s all stupid.
Thank you so much, comrades! I am feeling pretty comfortable with linux mint, and now would like some suggestions for some absolutely necessary FOSS or free license software for the OS. Hello, yesterday I officially released Louvre v1.0.0, a C++ library designed for building Wayland compositors with a primary focus on ease of development. It provides a default method for handling protocols, input events, and rendering, which you can selectively and progressively override as required, allowing you to see a...
People using X window manage will just keep using them. Wayland doesn’t offer anything valuable to most users so people will just keep using the managers they like. In 10-20 years we will get some nice, new managers that naturally will support Wayland and people will switch because of the features, not because ‘X insecure, Wayland awesome’ BS.
Exactly. If I’m looking at an empty desktop it means I’m not really using my computer for anything. I might just as well go for a walk and check the weather myself.
And killed the driver (who I think is called and engineer but I’m not sure and I’m not going to look it up because I don’t feel like but even though it would take me less time to actually check than to write this explanation but to hell with it) who represents the middle class.
More often than not, the best way to hide is to simply blend in with the crowds – this also encompasses one’s choice for a username. Very meh. I first episodes that followed the books more closely were pretty good but later they just remove all the good bits and what’s left is just not that interesting.
Are you sure? Last time I’ve checked adding Network Extension entitlement required joining apple developer program which costs $99 per year. It doesn’t say this explicitly in any of the docs but it does say you need a certificate and to get a certificate you have to join Apple Developer Program. So you have to pay $99 to install an app you’re developing on your own phone.
And how will you share an app with other people without signing it? I have no idea. Looking at the link you shared the free membership doesn’t include any form of app distribution. I think to install any app on iOS it has to be signed and to get a certificate you need to paid membership. Without paying the only thing you can do is to run some apps on your own phone. And from what you saying even this is difficult because you have to sing it every week.
