I’m not working anymore- I’m helping my daughter with a state online school which requires a parent to be a full time ‘learning coach’- but in my last job, I spent as much time as I could on Reddit. Then Lemmy. Now she doesn’t want me to sit with her during her video lessons, so I have a similar amount of time to kill and post on Lemmy.
One day I’ll have more to do and you people will be rid of me.
It honestly depends on a community. On Ten Forward, where I’m a mod, we have banned AI posts because, at least this was my reasoning, they never do Star Trek right. I also mod on Lemmy Shitpost and, in general, I’m pretty lenient with them there as long as it isn’t so lazy that someone practically typed in ‘funny meme.’
That said, I’m also on another forum where an AI art thread that began with the first Dall-E has become mostly us finding ways to put Godzilla in ridiculous situations. Now that is a fun use of AI.
I got a boxed set of most of his books off of Amazon a couple of years ago and have been supplementing it since when I have a few extra dollars to spend. I think I have one book left to get.
If you ever get to Strange New Worlds and Discovery, they flesh out The Menagerie in all kinds of interesting ways. My only complaint is that they didn’t make Vina look deformed enough when she appeared.
