Other than your carrier give it for free or cheap, I don’t really see the reason why should you buy new phone. I’ve been using Redmi Note 9 for past 3 years and recently got my had on Poco F5. I don’t see the point of my ‘upgrade’. I sold it and come back to my Note 9. Gaming? Most of them are p2w or microtransaction...
I have a Fairphone 3 that I got in January 2020. Its a great device. I want to using it daily for between 5 to 10 years. And I have no doubt it will do that.
Meanwhile my brother has bought 3 Samsung devices in that time. And each one still works fine. He doesn’t need a new phone each time but he will still insist on it.

PS, I dont mean this in a bad way. I love Lemmy and it is hugely encouraging to see so many people use it. I’m just poking fun at trends I’m seeing emerge.
He would be the perfect person to AMA as he’s already associated with Reddit revolts, and it would result in tremendous media coverage and mark fediverse as a viable alternative to Reddit. What do you think?
Is there a dedicated AMA community on Lemmy, Beehaw or Kbin?
/r/AMA good on reddit as it centralized a lot of those kinds of posts. Having an equivalent here on the threadiverse would be fantastic to enable these kinds of events.
No pooping so they don’t expel the drug packets that they have ingested. No sweating so they dont seem nervous. And less peeinhg since will be travelling, on planes, cars etc
What's the point of buying new phones every years?

It feels like the early days of the internet!!!! (lemmy.world)
Whaf do you think of hosting an AMA with John Oliver to make Lemmy/kbin officially a viable Reddit replacement?

I need to survive for 3 days without pooping, and eating as little as possible. I can pee, but not very often. It can't take up too much space. What food do I pack?
Please don't ask why I need this....
