Godort, to linuxmemes in Never again

Hosting documentation on Discord is like hosting it on IRC.

While a useful tool in its own right, it’s entirely the wrong choice for this job.

They’re mostly banking on the cost of change being higher than the inconvenience of staying.

I believe these are put in place to actually test your knowledge of the vocabulary and grammar, vs just being good at memorizing the handful of simple conversational samples.

Godort, to linux in Linux in the corporate space

It’s staggeringly uncommon for the desktop side of things outside of machines running a specialty app or a particularly tech-savvy IT guy.

The issue is that Windows is just really good at centralized user management and policy control. You can do all those things in Linux too but it’s significantly more complicated and harder to manage.

Godort, to memes in Pilk

You’d think that, but it doesn’t seem to, or if it does, the separation isn’t noticable.

Pilk isn’t bad, it’s kind of like a disappointing Pepsi float

Godort, to askelectronics in What's your solder of choice?

I use ChipQuik’s 62/36/2.

I haven’t found a lead free solder that works as well as this stuff. Plus, I never need to worry about silver-plated stuff cracking at the joint.

Godort, to asklemmy in What are the best e-readers on the market?

This is probably not what you’re looking for, but if anyone is looking to make their own Ebook reader I recommend checking out The Open Book Project

This is true for most “important films”. They were the first to do something well enough that the entire industry latched onto it, but their stories and presentation don’t stand well against the test of time. 2001 and Casablanca also fall into this.

Wow, you’re the first person I’ve seen to notice that Batman Begins is the strongest of the 3.

Like, Heath delivered an incredible performance, but everything else surrounding it was not as cohesively put together as the first film.

Horror is a divisive genre, because it has some of the higher highs, but also many of the lowest lows.

When I first read this comment, I thought you were talking about Super Mario Bros (1993) and was about to throw hands. Because that movie is actually good, if deeply flawed. Its flaws make for a more entertaining movie altogether.

Godort, to asklemmy in What is your unpopular flim opinion

I wonder what the sample size looks like for movies with a score less than 50% pre-2000 vs post-2000.

Writing off an entire century of filmmaking seems like a cop-out

i isn’t a real number, you imagined it

Man I wish.

Getting everyone to agree on a date and time for D&D is harder than any encounter you could face in-game

Godort, to movies in [DISCUSSION] What director(s) do you think have the best filmography?

Honestly, George Lucas has made way more good movies than bad ones. And even the bad ones were either massively influential or interesting in some way.

For example, it’s not a controversial statement to say Attack of the Clones is a shitty movie, but it was also the first Hollywood movie to be shot entirely digitally, using a camera that he worked closely with Sony to produce. Now basically every movie is shot digitally.
