Hagdos, to lemmybewholesome in Moms are the best

I’m really curious how the math works for where you think people can retire as soon as their kids start working. Retire at 50? Get kids at 40? Start working at 30?

Turns out they can be, when they put comedians in charge

Either too heavy (these vehicles are below 200kg) or it doesnt work long enough. Or you’re now hot and humid, which is worse than hot and dry

It is!

Sometimes, but they only work for so long. Mostly just bring plenty water and power through. Every stint is about 4 hours of driving, and then drivers change.

I worked on solar racing cars as a student. The main race crosses outback Australia. One of the questions we often got: Does it have A/C?

No, no it doesn’t. A/C uses about as much power as all of the solar cells on the car deliver. We can either move, or power an A/C-unit.

Inversion thinking also works the other way around. If you see negatives most of the time (which is a strong suit by itself, but the pitfall is that you don’t dare to take any risk), it can help to sometimes consciously think “What if it goes right?”

Hagdos, to lemmyshitpost in Here as well

You don’t need a lot, or even any exercise, to prevent overweight. Diet is everything. The amount of extra calories you can eat for a run is easily outweighed by the extra hunger.

Thanks! I’ve been struggling with this for months, couldn’t even find someone with the same issue.

For anyone else with this problem: Go to Android settings (not Firefox settings), then apps, Firefox, and turn off picture-in-picture

Holy shit, same. Zoomed in on PC it’s very clear it’s generated, but I saw it on my phone first. Looks very real on a glance.

Edit: Nevermind, it seems like it’s not generated, just shitty compression

Hagdos, to askelectronics in Housing for resistor?

I would make sure the solder connection between wire and resistor is very solid, and then encase the stuff in heat shrink tubing with glue in it. (Adhesive Lined Heat Shrink Tubing)

If it’s good enough for Nasa, it will work for your car: makezine.com/…/how-to-splice-wire-to-nasa-standar…

Hagdos, to askelectronics in 30 UV led circuit

AA batteries can supply plenty current, the question is for how long.

You need about 1.3 Watt for 30 LEDs (I’m assuming 15 mA, 3V). A rechargable AA battery has about 2.4 Wh according to Wikipedia, so 6 AA batteries will last you 2.4Wh * 6 / 1.3W = 11 hours.

I have no idea how curing works, but 1.3 Watt feels very low. That amount of power is fine for visual lighting, or for signals (turn on a TV), but energy wise it’s very little.
