HatchetHaro, to asklemmy in Any good YouTube recommendations?
@HatchetHaro@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

EthosLab - the OG Minecraft Youtuber that other Minecraft Youtubers watch; somehow still innovating on redstone and technical builds to this day despite Minecraft redstone already pushed to its limits long ago, and his multiplayer shenanigans on Hermitcraft and Life Series is top notch.

Adam Ragusea - cooking videos made for actual home cooks who just want no-flair no-fuss recipes, as well as food science videos exploring and explaining different cooking methods and food chemistry. I’m particularly a fan of how he encourages you to measure and cook by feel rather than by strictly following recipes.

as a gay bottom, my sewage system is sometimes my playground

HatchetHaro, to asklemmy in What are your best flight tips and tricks?
@HatchetHaro@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

Having flown many times, I can confirm that the aisle armrest triggers exist on most major airlines. Any time I sit down on a flight, the first thing I do is look for that button.

HatchetHaro, (edited ) to asklemmy in best app for lemmy?
@HatchetHaro@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

My rankings based on personal experience and nothing else:

  1. Boost
  2. Liftoff
  3. Thunder
  4. Connect
  5. Lemmotif
  6. Jerboa

I know Lemmy has a general preference for FOSS but Boost just feels like home, and the amount of ads on the free version is tolerable to me.

HatchetHaro, (edited ) to piracy in Chinese Age-verification
@HatchetHaro@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

This is NOT age verification. It is asking for your real name and ID number, quite typical of many Chinese services for Chinese citizens.

Uninstall it.

HatchetHaro, to asklemmy in What companies have made your blacklist?
@HatchetHaro@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

It’s been ages since I last played Warframe; can you elaborate on that accessibility feature?

HatchetHaro, to lemmyshitpost in Jog either I do not
@HatchetHaro@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

Unfortunately (for you), Lemmy’s meme supply is being carried by the nerds on startrek.website. If you wish to see more non-Trekkie stuff, well, be the change you wish to see

HatchetHaro, to asklemmy in What is the name of your cleaning robot?
@HatchetHaro@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

Mimi.

Because it’s a Xiaomi.

HatchetHaro, to memes in When you hear someone pronounce GIF as 'JIF
@HatchetHaro@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

It’s pronounced however the fuck you want to pronounce it.

I like to pronounce it “jif” because gin, gentle, Germany, gypsy. Others like to pronounce it “gif” because gift, good, game, girl.

Don’t pull any bullshit reasons like “it’s not pronounced jraphics”, because if that argument holds any water, JPEG is jay-feg, scuba is scuh-ba, and laser is lah-seer.

The creator calls it “jif” and wants others to call it “jif”. I don’t give a shit; if some people want to call it “gif”, that’s up to them and I’m not stopping them. English is not a prescriptive language; pronunciations will always differ according to origins and regions and accents and generations. I will not misunderstand you if you pronounce it “gif”, and you will not misunderstand me if I say “jif”.

HatchetHaro, to asklemmy in Do you prefer PC or laptop?
@HatchetHaro@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

If you only use your computer for the most basic of operations (browsing the Internet, watching Netflix, writing documents, etc.), Chromebooks are fine. However, I’m assuming this discussion is about laptops versus desktops.

Basically, all you need to care about between laptops and desktops is the balance between portability, power, and affordability. If you travel a lot, get a laptop. If you need the processing power for video editing or gaming, get a desktop. If you need to edit videos while traveling, get a gaming laptop. If you don’t need any of those, get a second-hand Dell desktop.

If you need to use a laptop but hate the keyboard and trackpad, nothing is stopping you from chucking a separate mechanical keyboard and a mouse into your backpack. A lot of people in tech actually just do that.
