People hate raisins because they're not chocolate. I enjoy G.O.R.P. on occasion, but I don't eat trail mix for the raisins. I leave most of them behind. They can be a bit much. Ratio of anything to raisin needs to be right. One raisin to five to ten of anything else, otherwise they're just overwhelming.

Olives, on the other hand, are fucking delicious. Hell yeah. Bathe me in their brine-rich kisses.

Growing up poor is fun. Very similar to what we called tuna casserole.

  1. Box of elbow macaroni, cooked
  2. Can of cream of mushroom soup
  3. Can of tuna, drained
  4. Can of peas, drained

Dump. Mix. Consume.

I'm still poor, but I don't eat that shit.

Yeah, totally. I've had cheese that was aged in raisins. Fruit and cheese are friends.

I'm very selective about my raisin eating. I don't tend to like them in desserts, but love them in savory dishes. A lot of cuisines utilize raisins in this manner - North Africa and Mexico immediately come to mind.

I think the issue here is ultimately about texture more than flavor. I don't want a chewy raisin in a rich, melty sauce. They're good in kugel, which are also made of noodles, but the texture is very different. They're springy, tender, and solid. Much more welcoming of raisins.

Beyond that, I don't really want any major modifications to my mac and cheese. It's comfort food and part of that comfort is how familiar it is. I don't really want anything in there. Even something like bacon or tomatoes, both of which would probably taste really good. Mac and cheese is just one of those things that I want to enjoy simply. Additional ingredients would only detract from the experience.

I hate flip flops with a passion. They suck to walk in. They're uncomfortable. The thong is annoying. They break easily. They're slippery. They're the worst.

BUT, I actually like these Okabashi sandals. They're comfortable and very, very durable. I got them at CVS several years ago and they're still holding up.

Otherwise, I highly, HIGHLY recommend Birkenstocks. I have this pair and they're amazing. They're definitely an investment, but they're so durable and I can walk all day long in them. I've had them for a few years now and they just keep getting more comfortable.
