I actually think they’re new school enough where Linux to them means a lot less than it does to us. And so they don’t feel at home on a Linux machine and, unfortunately, don’t care to learn.

I have noticed that I interact a lot more in Lemmy than I ever did in any social media. Let it be Reddit, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter… I am used to be the lurker, but here for some reason things are different. Wonder if more people feel like I do.
I think I got a double push - I’ve reached a point in my life where I finally have something to say as well as Lemmy not drowning out my posts/comments.
Also hosting a publicly open server drags me in even more; I love that stuff.

Now I will finally have gigabit but it’s through the city, and I’m wondering if they will be more strict on illegal content...

A while ago anyways and I’ve been upgrading it as new versions roll out and with the latest upgrade and snapd software it has become more and more annoying to keep the operating system happy and out of my way so I can do whatever I need to...
Honestly, for a long term usage like this a rolling release distro is better. I’ve never not had massive issues upgrading ubuntu release to release, but I’ve only ever had minor ones on arch and pretty much nothing on gentoo. Arch is bleeding edge, so can’t recommend it to you all that much and gentoo has some learning curve initially. But I’ve heard good things of whatever rolling names are from fedora and opensuse.
Someone had created !typewriters and I could swear it had some content, but engagement was low at the time and I think the creator abandoned it. I can move ownership to you if you’re up to it.

In regards to another member - he might have trouble initially if nobody from their instance had subscribed to the community, yet. Once subscribed, everything should be fine.
I used to do sudo !!, but then I’ve started learning the shortcuts of my shell a bit more - Ctrl+A jumps to the beginning of the line, which, technically speaking, is a saving of 1 (!) keystroke, compared to Shift+1+1.
This has also led to discover that emacs is actually much more useful compared to vim as it uses the same shortcuts.
