JayDee,

Hasn’t evolutionary psychology been heavily debunked at this point?

I think it’s much easier to say that dudes have it hammered into their heads that girls are bad at games, so when they underperform and a girl is on their team, they feel emasculated. This isn’t too far off from when dudes end up losing their ‘bread winner’ status in their relationship. They were told they had explicit traits to exhibit and they failed to do so, so it hits them in their self esteem. Classic fragile masculinity.

Patriarchal conditioning makes way more sense than “caveman brain HATE competing with woman!”.

JayDee,

Seeking out a responsibilibuddy can be helpful in such matters.

JayDee,

JayDee,

You’re walking on a path. That’s traceable. Beginner mistake

JayDee,

NGL I don’t like sushi but that fried sushi looking pretty appetizing.

JayDee,

I’m not following what you specifically mean.

Could you provide an example of when the theory fails due to a culture’s differing views of value?

JayDee, (edited )

I actually watch Unlearning Economics, though only his video essays and not his streams. It’s been a while since I’ve seen this one.

So what we’re meaning is how much of Western culture undervalues care-giving since it produces no product, so stay at home moms, nannies, therapists, etc.

I thought of another example. In more nomadic and naturalist cultures, actually doing things to the environment destroys value, while leaving it be and allowing it to recover creates value. That is something else that is not accounted for in any theory of value to my knowledge.

An example would be American Indians in their dependance on foraging and hunting. I think that gives creedance to the idea that they thanked the things they harvested/hunted (I don’t know the factuality of that), since from their perspective they were only a burden that the ecosystem was ‘kind’ enough to support.

JayDee,

Let’s not forget that the only reason states exist is to serve those within them. If that state should fail to serve its people sufficiently, it’s been common throughout history that they’ve been dismantled by the people.

You are correct about natural rights. They are fought for. Many rights, such as workers’ rights, were strongly fought for and founded on blood (pretty much all of them in fact). However, when talking about rights, one remember the original meaning of the word: that which is morally good or honorable. The legal entitlement is preceded by the philosophical definition. In a just society legal rights should reflect moral rights as closely as possible.

Housing is necessary for life, and so depriving an individual of housing when housing is unutilized is equatable to murder, an injustice. This is why the post communicates that housing is a human right.

JayDee,

I won’t argue with you; I am unequivocally a moron.

JayDee,

I won’t argue with you till you put some pants on.

JayDee,

Philosophy is the soil from which science has always sprouted. Without philosophy, much of modern society would not come about.

JayDee,

People seem to be freaking out about vegan thing.

I am pretty sure the artist is referring to the owner literally going out and buying either wet food with meat chunks or some other meal with meat directly in it, as opposed to dry food with no meat bits.
