I’ve been reading the Honor Harrington book series from my local library system but I noticed them on sale in Amazon. The Kindle versions of the books are “DRM-Free at the request of the author”. That right there convinced me to buy the books.
A way to “tip” the authors anonymously would be a great addition.
Here’s a horror story from literally yesterday. We have been fighting a system for a client for weeks and it has been a nightmare. Our clients just told us that they outsourced some of their work to an Indian outfit but that outfit is unfamiliar with Linux and doesn’t know how to edit text files so they have been downloading the files to their Windows machines, editing them in Windows, then uploading the contaminated text files back into Linux. None of them, not our client nor the outfit they hired, understood why this was a problem. We have no idea what files are affected and we won’t know until they fail because they obviously did not keep track of what they touched.
Turns out Imzadi wasn’t a word. Troy just kept whispering “it’s my D” during sex and Ryker got confused. She just let it go on that long because she and her mom thought it was hilarious.
I started my Linux journey in the 90’s with Red Hat Halloween. I’m sick and tired of troubleshooting and Debian based distros have been fully painless. Those of you learning your craft should absolutely try to manage things like Arch, just leave my old and tired ass be and I’ll sit here with my old kernel and cheer you on.
I taught adult education in college and always introduced people to computing with “DOS for Dummies” even though Windows was the OS they interacted with. By teaching them in a command line only environment first I could then easily teach them the desktop environment because they understood what was going on behind the scenes. I think the same could be done with Linux.
“I feel seen and appreciated” – The hotwifing couple’s bull
EDIT: Well…that joke did not land. Oh well. I promise to continue undeterred as the true mission is to maintain high levels of Lemmy engagement. I am sorry to say that the occasional cringe inducing bad joke is the price y’all have to pay for the health and growth of the fediverse.
The world of music production is dominated by Apple with Windows running a distant second. Thanks to DAWs like Reaper and open source plung-ins constantly being developed, music production on Linux doesn’t seem like such a crazy idea anymore.
I am very pleasantly surprised so far, but that’s because my expectations were so low that I was shocked that ANY plugins even exist. With the way prices are going when it comes to music software, I expect to start seeing rapid progression in the music FOSS space.
