As you can see from your upvote/downvote ratio, most of the vitrol towards communism here is rightly directed at the Tankies, as theres a LOT of them spewing braindead takes that are the weirdest mix of SJW (For lack of a better term for nice sounding but low thinking social takes) and authoritarian… as if authoritarians or violent revolutionaries are ever going to care for any minorities past getting into power.
If we high five before I wash my hands, does that make our hands eskimo brothers? (I really am speedrunning how many times I can get comments removed for uh, bigotted?, language)
This thread is centered around an anti trans picture he’s part of. This question is like staring at the sun, going blind, and then asking us to prove that it was the sun that made you suddenly go blind
You mean, like the sun that you can SEE is shining? Fuck man, if you’re trolling, this is high tier. This is riding the line between believable and over the top
Lmao, you show up with an extremely negative comment and then get surprised when your negativity gets responded to with negativity. Yep, must be reddit and lemmys fault!
Steam comes pretty fuckin close though. Valve has its issues with communication and speed, but since all of its employees are also gamers the company frequently furthers PC gaming in ways they didnt need to because Valve employees just wanted things furthered in that category IE built in modding support, digital games refunds, built in control remapping, steamdeck being a linux machine, etc
Its not pertinent questions if you invent a scenario that the person you have questioned have not said they support. Do you think its fair to blame someone for something they did if a person put a loaded gun to their head and told them to do it? (See? My question has NOTHING to do with anything you’ve stated previously)
Sounds like you’re purposely twisting the person you’re responding to’s words to make them sound bad. It just ends up making you sound combative and doesnt further your arguement
Except raiders by their VERY NATURE will raid regardless of whether the property is owned or not. Dude keeps up bringing up fairness as a key point to what he’s saying, and you keep inventing INHERENTLY UNFAIR scenarios that dont apply to what the person you are responding to is saying. Fairness = those who contribute more get more, those who contribute less get less
They could have easily crammed the Steam Deck full of stuff to make it hard to use for piracy - locking down everything, making it usable only to play games you legitimately own, force you to go through who knows what hoops in order to play games on it. That’s what Nintendo or Apple or most other companies do....
Yeah, we arent going to get our Jetsons future if we refuse to restructure our society towards not having to work instead of just fighting the tech because its taking our jobs away
Windows as a software package would have never been affordable to individuals or local-level orgs in countries like India and Bangladesh (especially in the 2000’s) that are now powerhouses of IT. Same for many SE Asian, Eastern European, African and LatinoAmerican countries as well....
I mean sure in those countries maybe. But the vast majority of people using windows in North America would still be using Windows (And possibly Europe, but I cant speak for Europe) even if it wasnt easily piratable.
I cant wait to fully abandon windows with my next tower (Already on Linux with my deck) but MacOS is FAR MORE cancer than M$, part of the issue with M$ is it keeps trying to be more and more like Apple
2 edits: I think someone replied to this and then blocked me (or someone I’ve blocked replied to me somehow) as apparently theres a response to this but I cant see it nor have I been notified
And
Damn, a lot of you apparently want a mega corp have complete control over what what your operating system looks like/does/what accessories you can buy for it if you think Apple is in anyway better than Microsoft. I thought the whole point of jumping to linux was freedom, you have LESS freedom with macs than with PC’s

I feel like the Steam Deck is the best proof of Gabe Newell's quote that "piracy is a service issue."

Hey OpenAI (feddit.it)
Random thought: Windows is largely successful because of Piracy
