I’m not completely sure but don’t flatpaks offer good sandboxing. If they do it could be a good idea for people who use/need proprietary software like steam and zoom so when you run those programs at least it can’t read through your files and stuff

When I convicted my dad to switch to Linux it’s what I’ve given him, and he’s been very happy with it, so I guess it’s just that it isn’t a pain for a noob and it works a lot like windows

I do have a long term goal of learning C and making an actually good sixel patch, but that’s for ST. Like sure Wayland gets rid of the screen tearing I occasionally get on my old Intel GPU in my laptop, but why would I spend so much time porting patches when X11 when that’s my only gripe with it.

This is like moaning that a Metallica concert is full of metalheads. The fediverse is built off Linux type ideology. So of course we flock here.

People have already proven they will put up with about anything Microsoft throws at them, so they were never going to switch anyway.

Also you still can’t uninstall the bootloader under windows.😆

Using GNOME Flashback makes Ubuntu more customizable!! (lemmy.world)

I had a lot of fun customizing it, the best part of GNOME Flashback? Well, it doesn’t mess my main Ubuntu desktop environment, in fact, both DE look very similar and have the same icons!! Only “Main Menu” was installed but it only affects GNOME Flashback. I love GNOME and Ubuntu so much.

I love the fact that Arch chan is showing up in more and more of the community

Ubuntu actually still had the unity desktop environment when I started using it. And I wasn’t happy when they switched to gnome. Thats part of why I stopped using it

Just why?

It’s been really sad watching them shoot themselves in the foot like this. They seem bent on destroying their distro. Which was the first distro I really used on an old laptop after trying a few.

Man Ubuntu 16 those were the days.

I left reddit after a few weeks of getting any useful info off my saved list. Honesty I’ve been happier these last couple months. Now I only visit reddit( with an ad blocker, because they ain’t making a penny off me) to read help and old opinion threads when I need the info.

And these are the same people that would call you an animal abuser for telling your dog off in public😑

It’s not the thinnest thing ever, but I find my old ThinkPad X230 very light and easy to use for extended periods on my lap

Honesty I find it so dumb when someone is teaching someone a new card game, and they use a super powerful deck and absolutely wreck them.

Like what are you trying to prove.

There was one time I did that in Pokémon, but only because my friend had never played and was convinced in a joking way he could beat me if I played with my good deck, so to go with his joke I thrashed him with my good deck and then we laughed about it.

It’s like these people can’t stand to lose to the point they have to protect their fragile egos from a newbie.

If you play with a new player use balanced beginner friendly decks like the Pokémon battle academy decks or the MTG starter decks.
