Not mention there are millennials that have been over 35 for the last 7 years.

Thank you! This is what I was wondering too!

LilB0kChoy, to memes in They don't know which plumbing fixtures are better or worse do you think a plumber would work here?

And hardware stores specifically, especially the local mom and pop ones, seem to attract the older semi-retired crowd that is looking for something to do where they can share their knowledge.

At least this is how it is where I live.

And you know what they call a Quarter Pounder with Cheese in Paris?

They call it Royale with Cheese.

Right idea, wrong application. We need this kind of solidarity for the workers. Pretty sure the CEO with hundreds of millions of dollars will be okay.

LilB0kChoy, to fuck_cars in Parents Of Baby In Carjacked Vehicle Are Suing VW For Refusing To Assist Police

I’m going to play devil’s advocate here: how is the guy on the phone supposed to know it really is the police on the other side and not just some guy trying to scam his way into a freebie?

At the individual level this is actually pretty simple. I work in IT and when I used to do security training the way we’d validate is with a known contact.

In this situation you get the contacting officers name and department, disconnect the call, call the non-emergency listed number for that department and ask for that officer by name.

There’s a lot of other failure point potential in this scenario but validating the person calling is actually law enforcement shouldn’t be one of them.

I feel like the difference in Apple TVs shows versus other streamers is the cinematic quality.

It reminds me of the days when the difference between network tv shows and premium cable shows was distinct.

I can’t seem to find the exact words but it feels like Apple TVs programming is just more polished, whether the plot/writing/pacing etc. is not great it still feels like a polished product that fell short.

For sure! Though at the end of my drinking it was Ten High Kentucky as that’s all I could afford with the amount I was drinking.

LilB0kChoy, to asklemmy in Americans - I Need Help Choosing A Bourbon

Back when I was a drinker (7 years sober now) my drink of choice was whiskey in general, bourbon in particular.

That said, the best whiskey I ever had was a bottle of Yamazaki 12 year single malt. I got it as a gift when they just entered the US market and picked up a second bottle for ~$45 at the time. Highly recommended to any whiskey drinker.

LilB0kChoy, to piracy in Have 4K TV show torrents entirely disappeared from public trackers?

This is what it is for me. I’m blind in one eye and wear glasses because I’m near sighted with astigmatism in the other.

It’s really hard for me to tell the difference and most of my library is 1080 or 720 because it mostly looks the same to me. I don’t want to give up the extra storage Ford 4k files.

LilB0kChoy, to memes in Better take an advil

Ibuprofen (or NSAIDs in general) is bad for the liver as well and worse for the kidneys.

Edit: confused kidneys and liver.

LilB0kChoy, to privacyguides in Help wanted

This is required by GDPR. If the company wants to keep centralized employee records, likely where they are based in the US, GDPR requires them to get permission from EU citizens to do so.

The information they’re trying to store is public record, no government agency anywhere needs that provided to them.
