Liz, to memes in I will rue the day this inevitably happens.

Oh, uh, hello. How does one break this DRM, out of curiosity?

Remember that Z is the radius. It’s flatter than you think. I made sure to reference an actual rectangle before making that statement.

Liz, to lemmyshitpost in The more you know

Extremely wrong. The ideal A:Z ratio is more like 1:4.

Liz, to lemmyshitpost in The four houses dads belong to.

Good Lord that should be a thing.

Yep. Corded tools don’t need to be charged. Love it!

Is the chrome OS not full-fledged? I used it once ten years ago. Seemed fine.

I hate being the kind of person that ties things back to “we live in a society,” but our town planning sure isn’t helping…

Liz, to asklemmy in What is a nifty little feature modern gadgets have lost?

Nice! I inherited mine from my grandfather and I hope to pass it on myself someday.

While I’m downright chuckling at the desire to go back to rotary phones, I gotta appreciate that there’s always someone who liked things better the old way.

Liz, to linux in What distros have you tried and thought, "Nope, this one's not for me"?

As a person who doesn’t want to fiddle with my OS or the terminal, yeah, I love me some Mint.

Liz, to linux in Ending support for Windows 10 could send 240 million computers to the landfill. Why not install Linux on them?

I found it absolutely amazing they claim my pretty decent laptop from 2016 can’t run Windows 11. Laptops haven’t gotten that much better since then. Also, supposing it actually couldn’t, it’s a fucking operating system. It should be doing everything it can to stay out of the way. What kind of bloated monstrosity is Windows 11 that my laptop can’t run it?

Liz, to memes in Trig

Ah yes, because plumbers, electricians, and brick layers never have to deal with geometry. That being said, none of my geometry education was taught with a practical motivation. But that being said, I was in the advanced track classes, so none of us were becoming professional carpenters. I’m actually probably one of the most “hands-on” people from that class, both in my job and in my life. I build scientific instruments and enjoy fixing things around the house.

Liz, to memes in Trig

Not really. The point of getting really good at it in your teenage years is so that when it shows up 30 years later you have a vauge idea of what you’re looking at and can figure it out again. If you had only a surface level understanding to begin with, it’ll all be totally gone by the time you need it again, and very few people have the gumption to teach themselves a subject from scratch.

Ian is a low quality person and it’s rather disappointing. I’m not sure what his political stance is beyond “will this make/lose me money?” He got dropped by Brownells for trying to make an arranged deal on a gun that was supposed to go up for auction.

Ian refused to stand up for Karl when Karl was being attacked for asserting that the 2nd amendment is for everyone (along with all guaranteed rights, more generally). He straight-up refused to say that human rights apply to everyone because he knew it would piss off a good chunk of his audience.

He has a history of bad behavior, but he’s been very good about keeping it quiet, so most people he fucks over think it was an isolated incident.
