Lmaydev, to news in Few Good Options as Israel Weighs a Ground Assault on the Gaza Strip

Right but if one side surrenders here they’ll lose their land and be destroyed. They aren’t similar.

If hamas get Israel the Jewish population is fucked. Look at what’s happening now when they crossed the border. That wasn’t war it was slaughter of civilians.

If Israel get Gaza the Palestinian population is fucked. Look at the westbank. That is isn’t war either.

It’s not the same as any war. It’s 100 years of religious / racial conflict.

The only end is an agreement or genocide. And 100 years have shown an agreement is unlikely.

They came over the border a killed 1000 civilians. In retaliation Israel has killed 1000 civilians in air strikes. It’s not war. It’s slaughter.

Lmaydev, to asklemmy in Is it normal for a person to "feel" less as they get older?

LSD connects parts of your brain that you haven’t used or haven’t been connected together since childhood.

Now while this doesn’t always lead to good experiences it cured my severe depression for around 12 months. I woke up feeling generally happy for the first time in a decade.

Luckily these chemicals are gradually being legalized for study and should lead to some amazing therapeutic applications.

100%

There’s reactive abuse. Where in response to abuse you defend yourself with abusive behaviour. Then the original abuser plays the victim and gas lights you.

My marriage was like this. It was hell.

Halloween is done haha

My partner puts them up November 1st and then takes them down on boxing day.

I get their logic. You want them up in the build up and then gone once Christmas is done.

You could say it’s artificially intelligent haha

Lmaydev, to asklemmy in How many tabs do you have open?

None. I bookmark stuff if I need to come back.

Lmaydev, to opensource in Thoughts on Post-Open Source?

You can buy a license to use software. That’s how a lot of software works.

Lmaydev, to opensource in Thoughts on Post-Open Source?

That’s all well and good. But it still doesn’t change the whole not getting paid issue. Unless they violated the license lol

Lmaydev, (edited ) to longreads in 'Endemic' SARS-CoV-2 and the death of public health

Wearing masks isn’t really an issue. It’s standard in many countries during winter and they have much better flu numbers.

Natural immunity wears off with COVID and it mutates rapidly enough that we’ll keep needing boosters most likely.

Also the regular flu is fucking awful and we put a lot of effort every year into keeping to low.

Lmaydev, (edited ) to asklemmy in How many tabs do you have open?

Yeah but my bookmarks likely massively outweigh your tabs haha

I think they’re taking aim at people who use an adblocker because it’s simple and won’t bother if they make it harder than installing an extension.

Roughly 60% of people use chrome so I’m sure there is a big cross over.

But I feel if people really cared they wouldn’t use chrome to begin with.

Time will tell.

Lmaydev, to memes in Surprised Pikachu

I think it’s more that they know most people won’t bother if they make it difficult.
