MagneticFusion,

Firefox on desktop has an option when copying links to copy without site tracking

What phone do you sugest for your grandparents?

I got a task to buy a smart phone for my grandparents, they are not techsavy but they know how to use basic functions. Iam looking for an andoid because it has language pack i need. I dont need it to have lots of functions, onley a good camera and a big screen. Bonus points if it can be flashed with some kind of simplefied...

MagneticFusion,

the same aurora store that wouldnt work for half the times and you would have to go to the google play website for an application and click on “open in app” on ur browser?

doesn’t seem very intuitive for an 80 year old

MagneticFusion,

it is basic but you rum into compatibility issues every once in a while which they will not be able to figure out. And also, if you don’t agree with the Foss apps, it means you will just install the regular familiar google apps, which if you do that, does not make much of a difference if you are on GOS or stock Android

MagneticFusion,

There is P-SMS which is a fork of QKSMS, that is what I use

MagneticFusion,

the way signal and some privacy friendly apps do it is they send a blank notif first to wake up the app and then send the notif directly to you

MagneticFusion,

once again apple marketing making it SEEM like they care about your privacy

MagneticFusion,

they can push a new TOS to the app store mandating that push nitifs be handled the same way signal handles them.

MagneticFusion,

this is exactly why. people are acting like i actually enjoy giving money to Microsoft.

MagneticFusion,

Here is one brief video explaining some of F Droids security issues: youtu.be/lAbgeJau3eE&t=305piped link: piped.video/watch?v=lAbgeJau3eE&t=314

MagneticFusion,

Tf are you on about? I AM looking for a foss camera option. But it is practically non existent. Besides 2, Open Camera and Libre Camera, both of which have a UI from 2012 and Libre Camera lacks a ton of features.

And despite that, GrapheneOS comes with its own open source camera, but there is a reason nobody uses it, it has no features just like the other very limited open source camera apps (Open Camera excluded)

MagneticFusion,

I checked it out. Has a nice UI but suffers the same fate as the stock GrapheneOS camera. Lacks basic features such as panoramic photos

MagneticFusion,

Also to correct you, Google Camera does not need any Play Services installed. The reason I brought up Play Services is because I would need it to be able to get RSC working on Google Messages which I eventually plan on doing once RSC support is added to iOS.

MagneticFusion,

Yea I have heard of that too. Unfortunately I don’t know what other Camera app I would use. Open Camera has a good amount of features but I can’t stand the UI, and the GrapheneOS camera is very bare bones. I have tried some other proprietary camera apps but none of them seem to be as good as Gcam and for obvious reasons.

Full PGP support in Skiff (skiff.com)

We’ve heard our users loud and clear - interoperable end to end encryption (E2EE) across email providers is critical for privacy and security online. We have taken this feedback to heart. We are proud to announce support for PGP encryption inside Skiff mail starting today for all users across all tiers, including Free.

MagneticFusion,

Wow, what a great timing for me to switch from Tuta

MagneticFusion,

I’ve heard pretty good things about PopOS aside from the steam deleting desktop environment issue that ended up screwing over LTT.

If you ever want to try a non Ubuntu based distro though, I definitely recommend checking out OpenSuse Tumbeweed. I think I will stick with this for years to come.

MagneticFusion,

FINALLY what I have been waiting for. This is an amazing project. If the developer sees this, keep up the good work
