MigratingtoLemmy, to piracy in Louis Rossman/FUTO's YouTube app, GrayJay, now supports Sponsorblock... and shames you if you use it

I wish there was an add-on that could fake a view for the sponsored segment for the creator but skip it for the user. I.e. every time the user skips a sponsored segment, the extension adds a view for the sponsored segment for the creator, so they get paid whilst we skip their segment.

I would have liked more technicalities, but wonderful write-up. Thanks

TBH I haven’t used helix extensively, but I do like that I can just expect things like auto-complete and linting to work, which I would usually expect from something like vscodium, but that’s not cli. So yes, helix is nice. I’m just a bit afraid that I’ll forget my vim bindings because helix does things a little differently: wd instead of dw

Are CDs not available for some artists/albums you want?

MigratingtoLemmy, to piracy in I'm currently downloading a show that is on a service to which I subscribe

I use YouTube to watch clips of films I might like, and pirate them.

I use YouTube Music to discover music, and pirate them too.

I don’t subscribe to services. Why should I?

Thanks, had a look. Seems fantastic, I’ll keep this in mind!

Europeans are so lucky lol.

It is true, I haven’t found anything akin to sandboxes in any other ROM. However, if you contain your apps inside a workspace, that seems fairly sandboxed to me, for the most part. It is unfortunate that Google’s mobiles are not as repairable.

Let us know what you end up buying. I wonder if sandboxing can be implemented in other ROMs through some modifications in the Kernel (it’s Linux after all).

Cheers

Wait a second, how did you realise that OP adheres to Unix philosophy?

Could you explain your complaints with blockchains and web3? Genuinely curious

MigratingtoLemmy, to linuxmemes in Screw init wars, real OGs discriminate based on DE

Wtf, I didn’t know that Libreboot wasn’t fully libre any more. I agree with the FSF’s ideology here. The only reason to run Libreboot over Coreboot was 100% FOSS, and if that’s not the case, then there is no point to it anymore.

Thanks for mentioning the other projects, I’ll take a look

MigratingtoLemmy, to linuxmemes in Screw init wars, real OGs discriminate based on DE

Extremely. When things like your DE starts being dependent on systemd, you don’t want to replace it.

I had posted about the monopoly that systemd has, and was down voted to oblivion.

MigratingtoLemmy, to linuxmemes in Screw init wars, real OGs discriminate based on DE

Exactly. Other systems are clearly doing one thing: init. Systemd wants to do everything

MigratingtoLemmy, to linuxmemes in Screw init wars, real OGs discriminate based on DE

Agreed. Was just looking at Podman’s documentation the other day, and even though it’ll run on distributions without systemd, for a second I thought cgroups might not even work without systemd. Glad that’s not the case though, but I’m predicting a few problems down the road simply because I plan to use Alpine.
