MigratingtoLemmy, to privacy in My idea of maintaining E2EE between people in the age of the UK's and EU's anti-privacy laws

Well, yes, GnuPG is certainly an option. I don’t care how it’s implemented though, but I do care about the fact that clients/client apps take encryption into their own hands instead of relying on middleware.

MigratingtoLemmy, to linux in Just install EndeavorOS lol

I’m wondering why “I use Funtoo btw” didn’t become a meme, and arch did. Gentoo is objectively better at letting the user customise everything compared to arch

If they are going to push the transaction to my bank anyway, I’m definitely not trying it. As I said, even PayPal will obscure the buyer’s details from the seller. What’s the point?

MigratingtoLemmy, to linuxmemes in They just don't understand

But does it run Gentoo?

MigratingtoLemmy, to linux in Thinkpads RE: Repairability/upgradability

Framework outlet is a great idea. I’ll add that I recently came across deals from Dell selling an XPS13 from 2020 for $449 and MSI selling an Intel powered laptop (no discrete GPU, almost office laptop) for $399. The older Thinkpads will be reliable though

We need to use some tool. If the government doesn’t have your private key, they can’t decrypt your messages. I don’t care how that is implemented, but companies like Signal will either fight to the death or bow out

MigratingtoLemmy, to privacy in My idea of maintaining E2EE between people in the age of the UK's and EU's anti-privacy laws

Whatever works really. I don’t care which app/system does it as long as the government doesn’t have private key

I suppose I’m lucky I’m not a social person

Do you pay for the premium tier? I would like a decent credit score, and using my card for normal, everyday purchases doesn’t bother me as much.

Edit: Well, technically, they have your data anyway. It’s like using Paypal for everything. TBH I’m OK with the system as it is right now, but I’d like greater adoption for Monero so I can make purchases directly using that instead of converting it to fiat once again.

Ah, you’d use Privacy.com? Decent idea I suppose.

I’d never use a temp email when I’m paying, considering they have my CC info. For random accounts that I won’t check the mail accounts of, temp is great. Not going to trust a company for this.

MigratingtoLemmy, to privacy in Time to ditch #duckduckgo

I turned JS off other than for specific websites. This includes DDG. It gives me accurate results, although the other commenters don’t seem be facing your problem either

MigratingtoLemmy, to linuxmemes in So sad when it happens
