I made a community !pkms for all sorts of things related to PKMS aka personal knowledge management systems. I added some of my favorites resources there.

Louis Rossman/FUTO's YouTube app, GrayJay, now supports Sponsorblock... and shames you if you use it

Seriously this was very surprising. I’ve been experimenting with GrayJay since it was announced and I largely think it’s a pretty sweet app. I know there are concerns over how it isn’t “true open source” but it’s a hell of a lot more open than ReVanced. Plus, I like the general design and philosophy of the app....

MonkCanatella,

Eh, at least they added support for it. Good for them. Still looking at this app with some skepticism but so far seems to be doing what it sets out to do.

MonkCanatella,

Anyone have anything that works on Apple TV? I have some invidious app or other that basically never works, at all.

MonkCanatella,

There’s major issues with copyright/licensings/trademarks etc. It’s fundamentally flawed

what the fuck is this?! WHat IS THIS?!

MonkCanatella,

he has some very dubious takes - he’s very correct on how shitty it is to be a consumer but he’s completely blind to any systemic analysis of it, willfully I would imagine.

MonkCanatella,

He is spot on with how being a consumer enters you into an adversarial relationship. It’s so incredibly frustrating having to fight for what you already paid for.

MonkCanatella,

cool, but I was asking as a question out of technical ignorance, not as a complaint about wayland.

MonkCanatella,

Nah, I literally didn’t have any idea. I’m all for wayland adoption. I’m on x11 because my main computer has an nvidia gpu but with wider adoption, I’m sure the fix will come soon.

MonkCanatella,

I’m confused, how can an application ship with wayland? What if the DE you’re using is on x11?

MonkCanatella,

Yeah but that’s true about any linux distro. if you can do it on one, you can most certainly do it on any others

MonkCanatella,

I’m using it myself for my vps and it’s fine. I don’t think it’s anything spectacular, but my use case is really basic.

  • MonkCanatella,

I did some research yesterday and it looks like silver blue has some rebase command that does something similar. Universal Blue is using that to make it easy to switch between DEs, netting a very similar result!

The Lemur Pro starts at $1,150 for an Intel i5 machine with 8 GB of RAM and a 256-GB SSD.

Seems a bit expensive no? About dead on with macbook air pricing

if you’re strictly looking at value, it’s a better value to buy a macbook air with m2 and the same stats and just install linux on it.

    MonkCanatella,

Ability to pin applications to the taskbar depending on which virtual desktop/workspace you are in. For example, I’d like a coding desktop that just has an ide, browser, and terminal.

    MonkCanatella,

    I rest my case

    MonkCanatella,

Rad, Red is impossible to get into. That would be a dream actually. Of all things, music is the hardest for me to find in high quality. I would so appreciate if you were to share if you find the font there!

    MonkCanatella,

I actually found this exact gist in my search. Unfortunately this one is just a gist of css, not the font.

    MonkCanatella,

Pirates were very design conscious. I mean the skull and crossbones is known across generations and cultures. They would very much support these efforts!

    MonkCanatella,

Ahh right on, I’ll take a look!

    MonkCanatella,

No worries, I hadn’t seen the font resources from the mega thread so hopefully some folks get some use out of it. I’m just looking for a very specific font

    MonkCanatella,

Good find dude! You’re a true matey today

    MonkCanatella,

Well a lot of what I like I can just download from qobuz or spotify. Lots of other stuff I can find on nicotine. What’s most difficult though, is obscure artists in the electronic, experimental and art music genres. For example one of my tests for how thorough a catalog is is by searching for classical composers Taneyev and Arensky, or the electronic artist Forss (who coincidentally founded soundcloud). I especially like to look for lossless audio like flac
