Narrrz,

my partner of more than 4 years is sitting across the room from me, in the house we jointly rent and share with two small furry creatures.

She's from Brazil, I'm NZ. We met on OKC and she flew over to meet me late 2019, then after border restrictions had eased she moved over to be with me around the same time in 2022. just slightly less than 3 years long distance.

Narrrz,

my exact experience with tinder. if you're not am absolute stud you get nothing but bots. and girls get overwhelmed with likes from basically every guy in 100km.

Narrrz,

how does the newest xpac stack up? I'm a longtime player but just lately my interest has waned, but it tends to come and go and it'd be nice to know whether the newest content is worth coming back for. compared to the other xpacs I feel like they did eod dirty with how little time they gave it before releasing another full expansion (hell, path of fire got essentially two full living story releases)

Narrrz,

That's not such a bad model. And three elite specs feels like the right number - gives you some variety in your playstyle choices without risking overlap with what already exists.

Maybe if i ever get some free time from work ever again (lol), I'll try to dive back in.

Narrrz,

I think most species probably align themselves to either the galactic plane or prominent orbital plane of the local star system.

the "up" & "down" directions would be completely arbitrary, though. there's no reason to think everone would decide on a standard for those.

and species without that certain sense of appropriateness, or an overt dedication to logic, would likely not bother with a standard orientation. and especially when in orbit over a planet, I think everyone would orient their "down" towards the surface.

Narrrz,

having a rank named for you is literally more recognition than Harry actually got.

Narrrz,

... would smash.
(would probably then get smashed, myself, with a menhir)

Narrrz,

or we just eyed each other from afar, but not obviously enough for the other person to notice, and never found an excuse to make closer contact.

Narrrz,

so the French are cowards, Canadians are teddy bears, but somehow when you combine the two they not only cancel our but hyperamplify the opposite?

Narrrz,

good point 🤔

Narrrz,

star wars isn't a utopian society, though. lukes family can't afford or won't spend the money on a droid that could do all the work for them. or the might be supply issues on tatooine - they buy c3po and r2 off jawas, after all.

Narrrz,

doesn't tatooine have two suns? solar radiation wrecks skin.

Narrrz,

but then those instances can simply defederate.

Narrrz,

I think this is honestly a conservative misconception. i very recently considered voting for our Maori party here in the latest elections, all that stopped me was some recent controversy that called the party leader's integrity into question. but still, I would relish the country's minorities receiving greater representation and privilege. as a straight white cis male, I have plenty enough privilege already, even if I don't consider my own life especially easy.

Narrrz,

out of curiosity, did you use a bot to write this? something about the frequency with which you use their username to refer to them stood out to me.

if that's not the case, I wonder why it is that using a proper name instead of a pronoun or stand-in reference jumps out to me as unnatural...

Narrrz,

righties want women to have fewer rights when alive than when they die.

did you know, you can't take the organs from a deceased person without that person's explicit permission, prior to their death? not even to save the life of an unborn foetus that some broad is being forced to carry to term.

Narrrz,

right wingers get mad.

Narrrz, (edited )

except they are, they just believe it when the owner of the boot stepping on them tells them that actually, this isn't subjugation.

Narrrz, (edited )

no, I intended to reply to you, but perhaps I should have quoted vector in my response. i was wanting to expand on your answer, to add that it's a misconception of conservatives that people vote for their own interests.

I guess perhaps it could have worked better as a direct reply to vector.

Narrrz,

I started taking mine in the morning because the boost they give your brain can make your dreams unusually intense, resulting in less sleep or worse quality.

Narrrz,

perhaps it is, but I'm not convinced. if food, eating, whatever were an unnecessary and wasteful system then the growing of food and processing, production, etc would likewise be a waste of resources, human labour included. a lot of our work does go towards food production, supply, processing, etc - if you could switch to an alternate system that dispensed with food but didn't otherwise alter our lives, that would surely be massively preferable. it's hard to imagine because eating is such a fundamental need, but that's just a limitation of this comparison.

if we could dispense with money but otherwise have society look much the same (or better, which I think it undoubtedly would be), that would be an improvement, to me, just by virtue of freeing up the labour of all the people who work solely in the overhead of the system. to imagine how else we might function as a society, I think it's useful to identify ways in which the present system is inefficient.

Narrrz,

not exactly what you're asking, but banks and insurance companies are the majority of what I call "the beaurocracy of money". they don't produce anything of value, and are basically just a sinkhole for labour.

Narrrz,

prostitution is definitely a form of work.
