Narrrz,

I think you said the unspoken part out loud.

Narrrz,

it took me a long time to realise that just because it has the word liberty (almost) in it, doesn't mean it's a left-wing idea.

Narrrz,

some republicans are good people in the same way some cops are good cops.

... ARAC

Narrrz, (edited )

as if they could.

alternately: like, see what they have to do to emulate even a fraction of my power, scoobs

Narrrz,

apropos of nothing, have you ever tried to actually get your jaws around someone else's head? you can't really open your mouth enough to do more than scrape the skin - biting someone's skull open would probably not be possible.

Narrrz,

what was the original image text?

Narrrz,

hmmm, any tips on making money from it?

I'm a hobbyist gardener - or, rather, plant enthusiast - but even if I know that the plants themselves might be considered valuable, the scale I'd have to engage in it to make it capable of supporting me in its own is... daunting, to say the least.

Narrrz,

buying hobby supplies is a separate hobby than actually using them.

Narrrz,

I would guess this effect is caused by lowered anxiety, or rather, reduced alertness. I take a medication that includes an adrenal blocker - for my anxiety - and if I miss even a day my dreams go crazy as my body is flooded with levels of adrenaline it's no longer used to.

Narrrz,

my partner of more than 4 years is sitting across the room from me, in the house we jointly rent and share with two small furry creatures.

She's from Brazil, I'm NZ. We met on OKC and she flew over to meet me late 2019, then after border restrictions had eased she moved over to be with me around the same time in 2022. just slightly less than 3 years long distance.

Narrrz,

how does the newest xpac stack up? I'm a longtime player but just lately my interest has waned, but it tends to come and go and it'd be nice to know whether the newest content is worth coming back for. compared to the other xpacs I feel like they did eod dirty with how little time they gave it before releasing another full expansion (hell, path of fire got essentially two full living story releases)

Narrrz,

or we just eyed each other from afar, but not obviously enough for the other person to notice, and never found an excuse to make closer contact.

Narrrz,

I started taking mine in the morning because the boost they give your brain can make your dreams unusually intense, resulting in less sleep or worse quality.

Narrrz,

I think this is honestly a conservative misconception. i very recently considered voting for our Maori party here in the latest elections, all that stopped me was some recent controversy that called the party leader's integrity into question. but still, I would relish the country's minorities receiving greater representation and privilege. as a straight white cis male, I have plenty enough privilege already, even if I don't consider my own life especially easy.

Narrrz, (edited )

no, I intended to reply to you, but perhaps I should have quoted vector in my response. i was wanting to expand on your answer, to add that it's a misconception of conservatives that people vote for their own interests.

I guess perhaps it could have worked better as a direct reply to vector.

except they are, they just believe it when the owner of the boot stepping on them tells them that actually, this isn't subjugation.

Narrrz,

perhaps it is, but I'm not convinced. if food, eating, whatever were an unnecessary and wasteful system then the growing of food and processing, production, etc would likewise be a waste of resources, human labour included. a lot of our work does go towards food production, supply, processing, etc - if you could switch to an alternate system that dispensed with food but didn't otherwise alter our lives, that would surely be massively preferable. it's hard to imagine because eating is such a fundamental need, but that's just a limitation of this comparison.

if we could dispense with money but otherwise have society look much the same (or better, which I think it undoubtedly would be), that would be an improvement, to me, just by virtue of freeing up the labour of all the people who work solely in the overhead of the system. to imagine how else we might function as a society, I think it's useful to identify ways in which the present system is inefficient.

Narrrz,

I have no patience for this, which is why I'm not a parent.

I'm also not a dog owner, but that is more likely to change...

Narrrz,

the bow and arrow is just a logical extension of mankind's desire to poke each other at ever longer range.

Does the reddit style format breed toxicity?

Does the reddit style format inherently make for a toxic environment? Or is it a culture of toxicity from the influx of reditors? For lack of a beter example, on stackoverflow, when someone down votes you, it comes with a comment saying how to improve. On mastodon, people can’t downvote you. These platforms are a joy to use,...

Narrrz,

I think having some form of "I agree with this" or similar helps to make you feel engaged with the content (for better or worse).

I think perhaps the actual person responsible for the post or comment shouldn't be able to see the results, though, otherwise it just becomes another ego building thing, and you see people strategising explicitly to build karma like on reddit. instead, the author should see a rating, like "slight approval" "mixed feelings" "strong dissent", etc.

Narrrz,

I'm guessing one of the rules of those clubs is "don't talk about this club"
