Numbers can be fun if you play with them a bit. We may not always agree but I'll be your friend if you ever need one.

From my perspective it’s weird watching lemmy users constantly talk about lemmy like you all live in a private house. I’m from kBin but most of my subs are beehaw and lemmy.

The entire point of all of this is to find the best communities for you. The same idea should be discussed across various forums because forcing a community into one place allows for power hungry people to become moderators who censor and control the community. It also usually becomes an echo chamber as new opinions get squashed by popular ones.

I agree there might be better ways to organize everything but I think the first best step is to get everyone to realize that this isn’t a “us or them” or a “lemmy or kBin”. It’s more like I’m logged in through AOL and you’re logged in through EarthLink. Now we get to browse all this stuff in these shared spaces.

That’s fair. It’s an out of the box, easy to understand distro. The fact you would get a user to even consider trying Linux is a huge ask. Making it as straight forward as possible is extremely important for a user experiencing Linux for the very first time.

If they get hung up on this process they will quit and go back to windows because they are afraid of something they don’t quite understand yet. Linux Mint is the right solution because of its ease of setup, ease of use and deployment of familiar elements Windows users will understand even if they are labeled slightly different.

Linux Mint is like the most stable Windows 10 out there. It’s easy to download new software, it’s GUI is extremely customizable and it has a “it just works” magic to it I can’t really explain. Every issue I’ve encountered was solvable albeit after lengthy reading.

If you’re brand new to Linux you can download it to a USB, boot to it from bios (disable secure boot if needed) and test it out without installing it. I’d say give it a shot if you got some free time and you’re curious.

It won’t but I still appreciate the thoughts. Thanks op.

I’m in my mid 40’s so you can’t just group people together and just say “that’s the way it was”. It wasn’t for me and I’m in that age group.

So I kept getting infections down there. This would usually occur due to hygiene. Now before you write me off as a basement dwelling Reddit moderator, the issue only occurred when I would have long layovers at the airport or would go for a weekend camping trip where I couldn’t properly wash myself down there to the fullest extent.

The worst one was finally from a 72 hour delay where I was stuck in the airport. After that infection I had enough and asked the doctor why this was such a big problem for me. He recommended due to the frequency of the issue to have it removed. I have not had infection down there since the operation, despite my activity or plans.

Thank you and I’m glad you found my humor acceptable. Conversation was getting a little glum 😅

I knew an extremely functional alcoholic like that once. Dude was a beast with computers and coding but he would rip through two to three Natty Daddy’s a night. Super smart but I just can’t believe he can consume so much every night and function like a normal human being the next day. Apparently he would write and fix code while drinking. Kind of seems like a recipe for disaster but sure enough, he gets it done and done right.

I tried what he did once and nursed a hangover for the better part of a day.

It depends if it’s in good taste. I consider the image above “low hanging fruit” 😅

This is making a huge assumption that he existed in the first place. Not sure about you guys but I can’t recall the last time an angel just descended upon us to unleash his wisdom. Pretty sure they were just high as fuck back then and wrote whatever nonsense they could come to with.

That actually sounds awesome. I’ll try to look it up later.

Yeah that’s pretty everything on my list.

The nice thing about the fediverse is all my votes are displayed. I generally only down vote a post if it’s way off topic or it’s rife with hate. This also applies to comments.

I generally upvote most things as long as it fits the topic, even if I generally disagree with it.

Rains Bran is the only one I still buy sometimes. I prefer to cook my breakfast but it’s great for when I’m stoned in the middle of the night and want something to snack on.

I pretty much just gonna say the same thing

I deleted all my comments and content from the site prior to deleting my account. Did it work? I have no idea and I'm not really interested in checking anymore. I'm happy here on kbin.

I kind of miss my massive karma though. I was 168k mostly from comments... Oh well, it's just fake internet points. I wonder how much karma I got here... -102...

Okay, maybe I'll go reverse this time I guess 🤣
