No Steve Mould? Definitely up there imo.

Edit: nvm I see him up there! I overlooked it the first glance.

Just shared this earlier but under certain conditions (in the US), you can actually file taxes for free.

apps.irs.gov/app/freeFile/browse-all-offers/

PC died. Trying the legal options.

And fuck. I really miss plex. I’ve had Netflix and Hulu forever as family won’t let me cancel. Decided to sign up to Paramount + for some Trek. Twice in lower decks it didn’t save my watched episodes. Doesn’t mark episode as watched if you exit during the credits. And multiple playback issues....

ObsidianZed,

I have a similar setup but only use it in my own home. I’m just curious, how do you share to your family? Do they watch exclusively on Mobile/Web (or maybe casting) or do you also push for them to pick-up some form of Android TV or something else that supports the Jellyfin app?

I could share to my family but I don’t want to have to babysit them and I know unless it’s incredibly simple, they won’t bother with it or they’ll both me with it every time.

ObsidianZed,

It’s also possible they create and upload the same content in both locations but have to target the larger YouTube demographic via clickbait thumbnails.

ObsidianZed,

Plus 1 for Sync, however I’ve never had ads due to my PiHole.

ObsidianZed,

I’m genuinely curious, to what are you referring when mentioning Windows, Discord, Nvidia, etc.? I know Windows is an entirely separate conversation but do Discord and Nvidia serve ads now and I’m just not seeing it because of my Pihole?

ObsidianZed,

Or both, both is good.

ObsidianZed, (edited )

Pihole alone does not block YouTube ads for me.

Edit: And uBlock alone does not block ads within mobile apps.

ObsidianZed,

I’ve been eyeing the Framework for my next laptop, definitely looks interesting!

ObsidianZed,

I know most people here knock the always on display, but my Samsung has the option to only show if I tap the screen or a notification comes through. I also use the option that blinks a certain color light around the perimeter of the screen and/or the in screen camera so it effectively simulates that old led.

ObsidianZed,

As a noob, can someone briefly explain flatpaks and why they may be preferred?

ObsidianZed,

That was my guess, from others’ context. Hits almost all of the good points.

How containerized though? Could it be a replacement for a docker server “farm” on a single machine or is it know for apps to simply use locally?

ObsidianZed,

Secondly, would it even be possible to know in that the sun has exploded?

The meme says “in the 8 minutes it takes for the light to reach us” but that would also be the precise moment in which we learn of the explosion leaving us with no time to make memes.

Which leads me back to my initial question, how, if at all possible, could we setup an early (seconds/minutes) warning system for such an event?

Possibly some kind of quantum entangled alarm system in a lower orbit around the sun?

Completely tossing around BS of course, just an interesting thought experiment.

ObsidianZed,

it’d probably take more than a few minutes for the explosion to engulf the entire sun, meaning that you would have time to send a meme before lights went out.

Okay, good. That makes me feel better.

ObsidianZed,

Is that not just quantum superpositioning, which I thought was technically a separate, though possibly intertwined, concept?

ObsidianZed,

In my car (2016), Bluetooth supports phone calls and that’s it, so I have a separate Bluetooth receiver always plugged into my aux port. So I have to cycle music manually.

Red Faction by Embark Studios, the former Dice devs behind The Finals

ObsidianZed,

I just had to look.

I primarily just use whatever the distro has(gnome terminal most often), though I use iTerm2 with omz on my work MacBook and really enjoy the customizability with tabs, panes, hotkeys, and especially triggers.

Can anyone recommend a good equivalent on Linux?

I see a lot of others listed here with many features. I’m open to trying a few to find a good alternative, though I don’t want to move all my eggs to a basket only to find out it doesn’t support some feature.
