This is probably an old meme. I use Linux as a dedicated gaming OS, macOS for everything else except when Linux is already booted or nothing is and I want to do something quickly.
You can turn off automatic updates, but it will still give you a notification when there is one so you can make it update at night.
Also, OS X? Is the OS 10.X or you’re just referring to it as OS X. Because in newer macOS versions, I can confirm the automatic updates do it at night when you’re not using the computer.
EDIT: Let’s cool it with the downvotes, dudes. 2024 is the Year of Linux on the Desktop, at least for my boyfriend. He’s running Windows 7 right now, so I’ll be switching him to Ubuntu in a few days. Ubuntu was chosen because Proton is officially supported in Ubuntu.
This change is required as core features in Steam rely on an embedded version of Google Chrome, which no longer functions on older versions of Windows. In addition, future versions of Steam will require Windows feature and security updates only present in Windows 10 and above.
I am trying to finally move from entirely depending on Google Photos to a proper backup strategy. I have my photos and videos downloaded from Google which are a mess right now but as long they’re with me I am fine, at least for now....
They definitely scan your photos, but definitely not to personalize ads.
Also, you can easily turn off ad personalization in your Google account.
As for building their AI system, this is also true but it’s opt-in. It allows your photos to be shown to people using Crowdsource to help improve Google AI.
That does not say that “personal information” refers to things you store privately on Google services. You can still turn off ad personalization anyway.
I kinda trust them, I don’t have any important files on Drive, but I have all my photos on Google Photos, which especially with these Drive files lost news, is not a good idea. I think I will transition to Immich which I already have set up, so I, and only I have control over my data, and it’s also free for 5x as more storage (because of an 1TB external hard drive)
I got a task to buy a smart phone for my grandparents, they are not techsavy but they know how to use basic functions. Iam looking for an andoid because it has language pack i need. I dont need it to have lots of functions, onley a good camera and a big screen. Bonus points if it can be flashed with some kind of simplefied...
Anyone else get the feeling that GPT-3.5 is becoming dumber?
I made an app for myself that can be used to chat with GPT and it also had some extra features that ChatGPT didn’t (but now has). I didn’t use it (only Bing AI sometimes) for some time and now I wanted to use it again. I had to fix some API stuff because the OpenAI module jumped to 1.0.0, but that didn’t affect any prompt (this is important: it’s my app, not ChatGPT, so cannot possibly be a prompt cause if I did nothing) and I didn’t edit what model it used.
When everything was fixed, I started using it and it was obviously dumber than it was before. It made things up, misspelled the name of a place and other things.
This can be intentional, so people buy ChatGPT Premium and use GPT-4. At least GPT-4 is cheaper from the API and it’s not a subscription.
