ParsnipWitch, to lemmybewholesome in My face staring back at me

I still remember when I first saw this on Reddit the name of ruawri (including the trans flag) was cut off and people were insulting her in the comments how she was self-absorbed, “character looks nothing like her”, “she wishes she looked like that”, “women always make themselves in video games”, etc.

When it turns out she is trans now suddenly it’s sweet and wholesome and got featured at Respectful Memes. People are hypocrites.

Please, not this again… Personally, I am a lot in favour of communism. But some people, especially US Americans, have a fundamentally wrong idea about the housing shown in the upper picture.

This is often neither cheap, nor does it reduce homelessness. And it’s also not the goal of that kind of rental homes to reduce homelessness.

That is just normal homes of average people in many places.

It’s not “cheap housing for everyone”.

What a fucked up and disgusting post.

ParsnipWitch, (edited ) to comicstrips in Offering solutions is annoying

This could also be an issue of this:

The difference between empathy and sympathy

In my experience some people struggle with empathy a lot more than they realise. And the “solutions” they offer are just ways for them to try and get out of an uncomfortable conversation. There are better and more honest ways to do that.

What? We loved watching the movie as kids and for me it was a beautiful fairytale with some action. I never thought it was scary or anything.

Might be because in Germany fables tend to be on the more drastic side. I still think it’s a great kids movie, on a similar level as The Last Unicorn or The Labyrinth for example.

Melons and pumpkins are called Panzerbeeren by german botanists.

Build two cases, calculate for both, drag both case through the entirety of both problems, get two answers, make a case for both answers, end up with two hypothesis. Easy!

The one thing that broke me as a child when it comes to movies was Watership Down. Damn that thing should be 18+

ParsnipWitch, to risa in Tonight, on Unsolved Mysteries

At least she avoided the typical end of most side characters who got a name and speaking role for ~1 episode: dieing as a casualty between some special effects.

ParsnipWitch, to memes in Hmmmm

This is an honest question, is Wikipedia just wrong on that? Because there they write that Palestine also expelled all Jews and that they moved to Israel for that reason (because they weren’t allowed in Palestine). And also they write that Hamas specifically want all Jews to be gone.

If Wikipedia is wrong, where do you get your information from?

ParsnipWitch, to memes in Then and now

People need to bring back cheesy personal websites, banners and forum signatures…

There are still some corners online where you can find and make those, even if you don’t have the money, time or knowledge to host one yourself. For example:

Neocities (yes it’s like Geocities)

I am obsessed with those sites. It’s like the internet back in the day when I was a teen. I hope the social media and content creator sludge never overcomes it…

ParsnipWitch, to asklemmy in Gamers who have gamed for a long time

For me the reason is … Decision fatigue!

I often stared blankly at my staggeringly huge game library and lost all interest to play. And instead ended up playing something not too heavy on the brain that I have known for decades and perhaps even watch Netflix on the side. (Like Diablo.)

While researching online I stumbled upon the phenomenon of decision fatigue and it changed my gaming habits and even other parts of my life. I probably understand the concept incorrectly but for me, I apparently tend to avoid decisions all together when there are too many options which leads to heavy procrastination. Doesn’t matter if it’s too many tasks on my list, too many letters on my desk or too many games to choose from.

I Marie Kondoed my gaming library and now it’s a fun activity again!

  • btw I am a gamer for over 30 years and my library, including all gaming platforms and consoles, has about 2000 (two thousand) titles
ParsnipWitch, to asklemmy in What is your unpopular flim opinion

That is why it’s an amazing movie.

ParsnipWitch, to asklemmy in What are some generational differences between millennials and Gen Z ?

At least where I live as a millennial you could have had a really nice childhood - until you finished school. Most struggled to find a job. Businesses would hire you as unpaid intern at best, etc. All while your parents (the boomers) expected you to have house, car and family in your twenties.

ParsnipWitch, (edited ) to memes in I have never understood that.

When I visit friends in northern Germany they also run around like it’s summer when it’s close to winter cold for me.

I had a friend jump into the North Sea to rescue a beer crate we put into the water for staying ice cold that swam away. While I was freezing on two blankets near the fire in a coat.

That beer was also too cold. None of their behaviour made any sense.
