All right, but apart from the sanitation, the medicine, education, wine, public order, irrigation, roads, a fresh water system, and public health, what have the Romans taxes ever done for us?
If one was indistinguishable from the other: taste, scent, texture, temperature, etc. You can’t tell apart the real thing from your choice, but you know 100% what you are eating....
I am an anarchist, so the idea of the community doing all the work, creating content, and then mods basically ruling over them as a reward, just doesn’t sit right with me....
Fellow Lemmings how can we create social media were the users are king/queen?
I doubt you can. Every forum I have been involved with that tried this quickly descended into a shitshow.
It is the tragedy of the commons every time.
post Scriptum: just having a voting mechanism, might be gamed by unsavory charcters or groups to game such a system, unless voting requires your clear name id, which comes with other issues of course.
This does little, to nothing. Even when you have to put you account id to a vote it does nothing to people who want to be disruptive and if you can create multiple accounts (which you can here...), vote bombing will happen.
Many forts that Poidebard documented don't even show up in the 1960s and 1970s spy satellite imagery; the Dartmouth team only identified 36 of his original 116. "The attrition of the archaeological record has been substantial and these processes are unlikely to have slowed over the intervening decades," they wrote. They believe further research incorporating higher-resolution or even older satellite imagery should reveal many more Roman forts in the region
Lately I started including what happens to my data in case I die unexpectedly in my threat model. As of now I’d like for everything to stay private. All my accounts have a strong password that I store on a keepass datbase that I store only on encrypted devices which themselves are protected only by PIN or Password with no...
Any digital traces I leave behind no longer bother me and my privacy is now assured.
No one will care what is on my accounts and I think it is hubris for 99.9999% of the population to think otherwise.
EG: Of the approximately 1,000,000 people who have died on earth in the past week, unless you are Mathew Perry, no one cares what is in your protonmail account.
What do we get in return for paying taxes?
Garbage answers encouraged.

Fellow Lemmings, how to create Social Media that does not have mods? (lemmy.world)

Scientific papers
Any sources to get scientific papers for my own interest? Doesn’t really matter if available as torrents or on the web to view. Thanks in advance!

Anthropologists suggest forts were built to secure key trade routes through the region.
