I think the point is more to mock the pseudoscience/history in a skit format, but his comments aren’t especially funny or clever. I’d describe it more as “failed comedy” than “old-perv” vibes but it does seem like he should stick to long-form documentary content.

What modes of transport do you really like?

For me personally, trams are right up there. Aside from the main issue of sharing the roads instead of having a dedicated line, they really make it easy to get from one part of a city to another, especially for wheelchair users. They’re usually as frequent as buses, but much faster. The stations are much more attractive...

PonyOfWar,

Bikes. I enjoy being outside instead of being in a box. I can also usually take more scenic and pleasant routes than I could with public transport or a car.

Second place would be high-speed rail. It’s quite comfortable and you can read a book or just watch the landscapes go by at rapid speeds.

PonyOfWar,

I got to fly a lot and always looked forward to it as a situation where no one can get mad at me for spending the whole time watching movies, playing games or reading books. Some of that childhood joy stuck with me, and I still look forward to a chance to sit back and read or zone out to music without any nagging work obligations

Pretty much the same reasons I like traveling on trains. The reasons why I don’t like plane traveling nearly as much (kind of hate it TBH) is the whole airport bureaucracy and security theater you need to go through just to get on the plane. And the incredibly cramped seats (though maybe not a factor for you, if you were privileged enough not to fly Economy).

PonyOfWar,

On Mac OS, it’s generally split though, isn’t it? The Dock is probably the closest equivalent to a TaskBar, though the menu bar also fulfills some functions of one.

PonyOfWar,

I quit playing after Mordor though, game just got too pointlessly difficult, even on landscape, lost all the fun I had with it.

Pretty sure they significantly balanced the difficulty down at some point after its release.

PonyOfWar,

If you’re mainly interested in PVP or resource gathering, New World.

If you want better PVE, more interesting storylines and better more varied world design, Guild Wars 2.

Personally, I quit New World as a mainly PVE player after playing for around 30 hours. It was just too mind-numbing killing the same 5 mob types over and over even after getting to a new area. Even reading all the quest texts, I never got very interested in the world or (barely existant) storyline.

PonyOfWar,

The ones I’ve been playing on and off over the past few years are Guild Wars 2 and Lord of the Rings Online.

GW2 is a really nice game to just pick up and play without needing huge time investments. It has a fun gameplay loop and well designed zones to explore. Haven’t gotten around to playing the new expansion yet, but I hear it’s pretty good.

LOTRO is great for that traditional MMO experience. The community is very friendly and surprisingly active. It has a nice atmosphere. They are also frequently giving away the expansion packs, so you get a lot of content for free.

Like the other comment says, “they” already exists in English.

So I’ll answer for my own language, German, which actually doesn’t have a gender-neutral pronoun for people. Personally, if people wanted to start using such a pronoun, I wouldn’t have a problem with it. I also think, however, that this sort of language change can’t be forced and if the majority of people don’t want to use it, there’s nothing to be done about it. So far, any attempts to establish such a thing were widely ignored, so I don’t think there is much demand among the population to have one.

As a sidenote, it gets really awkward when German translators have to translate a non-binary person’s pronouns into German. There is a scene in Star Trek Discovery where a character comes out as non-binary and in the German dub, they’re using a combination of the English “they” and the German plural form to address them. Sounds extremely strange and stilted, most Germans were probably quite confused by that scene.

PonyOfWar,

Some typical lunch dishes for me:

  • Curry/vegetable rice
  • Potato casserole with broccoli
  • Jacket potatoes with green sauce
  • Ramen (using Kurata vegan ramen soup stock)
  • Lentil curry
  • Various pasta dishes
  • Spinach lasagna
  • Ratatouille

Coffee and croissant for breakfast, bread with various spreads for dinner.

PonyOfWar,

I’ve been a vegetarian for about 20 years now. Other than that, I don’t actively restrict my diet as I never got close to being overweight. My main meals are mostly healthy I’d say, but I do probably consume too much sugar.

PonyOfWar,

HeartGold and SoulSilver improved upon gen 2 in almost every way while staying faithful to the originals. For me those are the perfect Pokemon games.

PonyOfWar,
  • Some kind of black and white Motorola
  • A cheap color Nokia phone
  • A (I think) Motorola camera phone
  • Palm One Treo 650
  • Samsung E1150
  • Wileyfox Swift
  • Motorola G5S Plus
  • Pixel 4a

I only have fuzzy memories of the first couple phones. I got into the smartphone game pretty late in 2016 (unless you count the Palm, which I bought used and which broke very quickly). Actually my main motivation for getting a smartphone was to play Pokemon Go.

As for browsers: Only got mobile internet with the Wileyfox. Used Chrome on that, switched to Firefox at some point when I had the Motorola.

PonyOfWar,

Now im not one to nitpick, but I don’t think thats something a commie would do right? I mean capitalists winning is supposed to be worse right? Am I thinking of this correctly? I mean thats one of my questions, like yall hate bigwigs but bigwigs are good when they fight the evil commies?

I’m a Democratic Socialist and I hold the “Democratic” part higher than the “Socialist” bit. A Socialist economy is not worth it, if the price for it is oppression and genocide. Socialism must come from the will of the people, not conquest and murder.

okay now im nitpicking but didn’t you say youd defend a capitalist country against a communist one, but critique when someone else defended a capitalist one?

I’m saying it’s even worse when people calling themselves communist defend not only communist dictatorships, but also capitalist ones. It means they’re just in favor of dictatorships, period. Or they’re just incapable of any critical thinking and defend anything as soon as they see a hammer and sickle.

PonyOfWar,

The problem with Tankies is their authoritarianism and their “the enemy of my enemy is my friend” mentality. I could never support a movement that supports horrid dictatorships of any kind. Even as a socialist, I’d always defend a capitalist democracy against a communist dictatorship. If NATO defends a small democratic country against an invasion from its large and powerful neighbor, I’m all for it, even if I’d rather have a European military alliance instead of NATO.

It’s also absurd how they defend countries like China, which has perhaps one of the worst forms of capitalism, because they’re nominally communist.

PonyOfWar,

Biologically speaking, there are no races. It’s ultimately just an arbitrary classification that can change entirely on people’s preconceptions. For example 100+ years ago, Irish people were often seen as not white by Americans.

…Not trying to say it’s racist to say you’re white though. That’s a ridiculous idea.

PonyOfWar,

Ethnicity? Race is primarily based on (arbitrary) physical characteristics.

PonyOfWar,

The whole point of Cyberpunk’s setting is that it’s a capitalist hellscape. The corpos don’t care about the environment or setting up a nice public transport network. And of course there is also the gameplay perspective, riding a train in a videogame gets very boring very quickly.

Can I use Google Play without a Sim card?

Can I use Google Play without a SIM card? I listen to audiobooks and don’t want to drain the battery on my personal phone so was going to buy a mini android and download Libby onto it and use that for listening to audiobooks but I don’t want to buy one if that won’t work. I have searched for my answer and can’t really...

PonyOfWar,

Sure, Google Play has nothing to do with your Sim card.
