retains clunky 7-day week that doesn’t interact will with decimal counting system
I like it, but I got an even better proposal. Weeks should have ten day weeks, and each month should have 3 weeks. summer/winter solstice and the spring/autumn equinox as well as new years day are special holidays that fall between months and interrupt the week cycle. In leap years, new years is two days.
The 1st, 11th and 21st of each month are now Mondays, so you can tell the weekday of any date. Months are the same length just like in Jesse’s proposal, but an even 30 instead of a clunky 28.
it’s just a meme. although there is perhaps a higher percentage of trans people using linux, perhaps due to the correlation with autism or because they’re attracted to less opressive alternative safe spaces in general
These things are dangerous. This person is using it at a safe distance but you can blind somebody at close range. Either that or the camera is insanely good lol
Now i’ve been considering moving to linux. I don’t have much of a history using a computer and find it tougher to use than my phone. But I also really appreciate the foss movement. I’ve currently got an old laptop running windows 11 I think and it would prolly speed up with linux too. But I’m afraid I’d fuck smth up...
i gotta join in with the other Linux Mint voices here. It’s very user friendly. You just need to know:
the desktop environment is called Cinnamon. this will help you google stuff.
the system package manager is called APT, and if you just use the update manager you won’t have to interact with it directly, but it’s good to know.
in the software center many apps have the options sytem package or flatpak. system package means it goes through APT, flatpak is a sandbox system that is good for isolating your apps from your system. imo always choose flatpak, except for steam.
That being said I can imagine if KDE didn’t have Kate or Konsole or any of that - there’s plenty of text editors and Terminals that already exist out there.
So they’re building a whole complex text editor just for the desktop environment? seems like a weird priority or is the text editor a separate project?
CS lecturers aren’t necessarily good programmers. If people workong at big tech companies would do this in their spare time, now that would be fantastic.
