Pulptastic, to comicstrips in Online movie reviews [Beetlemoses]

The left is Rotten Tomatoes which I usually my go-to. The relative % of critic and user ratings let me know what. Getting into. If both are high it’s a well made blockbuster, critic high user low is thought provoking, critic low user high is the Walmart lowest denominator slapstick, action, or romcom, and both low is trash like Freddie Got Fingered or The Room.

The other is Letterboxd, a social movie review platform, that I’ve never used but I can imagine it would make my peenus hort.

What am I looking at here? It’s just a wall

Pulptastic, (edited ) to memes in 6÷2(1+2)

I disagree. Without explicit direction on OOO we have to follow the operators in order.

The parentheses go first. 1+2=3

Then we have 6 ÷2 ×3

Without parentheses around (2×3) we can’t do that first. So OOO would be left to right. 9.

In other words, as an engineer with half a PhD, I don’t buy strong juxtaposition. That sounds more like laziness than math.

Pulptastic, to piracy in Remember guys, this is why we don't pay for the apps.

Franco was a nut. He did put out some nice android kernel mods though.

Pulptastic, to science_memes in We don't judge here. :)

Who said she’s a mechanical engineer?

Pulptastic, to memes in Seriously spends $80 to drive 20km..

You’d be surprised what I fit in my Yaris hatchback

Pulptastic, to privacy in Plex starts narcing on its own users' anime and X-rated habits with an opt-out service, and it's going terribly

Xart

Pulptastic, to memes in Japan is on its own wavelength.

There’s this really cool shorthand where you drop the year because it seldom changes. It’s called MM-DD

Pulptastic, to science_memes in your time has come, mortal

My favorite class in grad school. Here, let’s derive the empirical laws of thermodynamics from first principles based on random movement of atoms.

Pulptastic, to gaming in Gatekeeping for profit

Some lab equip has proprietary ports that would need reverse engineering to make and use a USB adapter.

Pulptastic, to asklemmy in What's something you'd change in men's fashion, given the chance?

Variation and color. I have the choice.of three minutely different collars and it can be black, blue, or gray. I want tangerine, asymmetric, with an ascot.

Pulptastic, to lemmyshitpost in Microplastic overdose

I really want American cheese that is not wrapped in plastic. Kraft makes it but it costs more than double the plastic wrapped stuff. I’ve paid that price when times were plenty but they are no more.

Pulptastic, to asklemmy in Those of you with lesser-known types of jobs...what do you do?

I’m a metals engineer. I design and monitor processes to make metals with the right properties for a given application. That means lots of testing to prove it was done right, and testing usually means breaking shit to make sure it has enough strength and ductility.

It has pros and cons. The money is good and demand is higher than supply so it is pretty easy to find a good job, but it is a niche field so I have to go where the work is and aw(mm usually they put these places in the middle of nowhere in shitty republican states that have great corporate tax policies. It is also pretty much exclusively on-site work which means I have very limited choices of where I live.

I am a polymath and am good at lots of mathy sciencey things, I’m hindsight I probably would have picked something that allows for remote work. TBF remote work wasn’t much of a thing in 1995 when I chose this field but I wish now that I could work remotely.

All that said it is a good time and has treated me well so far.

Pulptastic, to science_memes in fishing for math

That’s tough to swallow. Philosophy almost belongs at both ends.

Pulptastic, to asklemmy in I need to survive for 3 days without pooping, and eating as little as possible. I can pee, but not very often. It can't take up too much space. What food do I pack?

The best thing you can eat is nothing. Take a 3 day water only fast. Maybe 4 days, start before your trip to get out all the poop ahead of time.
