RotatingParts, to memes in I'm so good at time management that I hardly work at all

I always wondered how bragging about how long you worked was considered by some as a good thing. The “higher ups” must have used some fancy tricks to get people to think that way. It never worked on me though :)

RotatingParts, to linux in best foss cad software?

For 2D CAD, LibreCAD

RotatingParts, to linux in How to use the Linux kernel's live patching feature

If you are using Ubuntu, they have live patch available. You have to sign up for Ubuntu Pro, but that is free for individuals. I just heard about this and haven’t tried it yet ubuntu.com/security/livepatch

RotatingParts, to linux in What's your current favorite distro that isn't Arch, Debian or Fedora?

MX Linux only because I have it on some very old 32 bit laptops and it supports 32 bit. I don’t really know why I keep those laptops around but they are functional.

RotatingParts, to privacy in Mullvad halves my internet speeds — is there a fix?

Switch location in Mullvad. I often find that solves any issues I see (such as poor speed or too many captchas …)

RotatingParts, to lemmy_support in Account being verified since >1month on Jerboa

I have the same problem with Jerboa, yet if I accesses Lemmy through a web page, my account is fine. I installed Eternity on the phone and my Lemmy account has no problems on that app. Another data point that this is probably a Jerboa issue.

RotatingParts, to memes in A masterpiece about our society, all the burdens and manipulation, and breaking free from it

Even though I am sure I didn’t get all the imagery, I did enjoy it enough to watch the entire video. I did pick up on some of the anti-vax stuff and did not like that.

RotatingParts, to memes in Black Friday

The only way to know if a Black Friday price is good is to know the usual “regular” price of the item. That takes planning to jot the price down a month or more in advance and then wait to see what the Black Friday price is. It’s all a game.

RotatingParts, to privacy in Selective cookie blocker ? (GitHub)

The add-on Cookie AutoDelete allows way more flexibility with cookies including white listing cookies. Example: you could have all cookies deleted but not the ones on your whitelist. It has many other options for controlling cookies.

RotatingParts, to linux in Is there a safe way to run multiple desktop environments on Ubuntu 22.04?

They are both rolling releases. Rhino is based on Ubuntu and BlendOS is based on Arch. The difference is that Blend OS lets you install software from supported distributions (Arch, Fedora, and Ubuntu) into containers. Rhino (as far as I know) out of the box doesn’t do that.

I believe you can do this (and more) with Blend OS blendos.co

RotatingParts, to asklemmy in Downvotes = “I disagree” or “this is bad and you should feel bad”?

Let say there is a news story of a horrible event. I will up vote it so people see it and read it to learn. I am not up voting it because I am promoting the horrible event.

RotatingParts, to asklemmy in What is the most unhelpful advice you have received?

“Think harder.” You are already thinking, trying to come up with an answer and aren’t able to. What does “think harder” even mean?
